Actually what the quote says is:
Aim at being loved : love is unconditional aim for being loved

Without being admired : admiration is "not" unconditional... you admire people for things they do, you have expectations of those you admire. And when we work to be admired, we act or react with that in mind = not really being ourselves.

An admirable aspiration, but rather difficult on the part of the lover and the lovee. Why not strive to do the loving *and* the admiring?

It would sound better if it were: "Aim to be loved without being admired"

Basically he's saying that if someone really loves you, admiration shouldn't be required if it's true love.

Think along the lines of love vs. lust and i think you'll understand what he's talking about.

I think love and admiration go hand in hand. I can't imagine loving someone I don't admire..
