Personally, I think drinking is a compromise. I think it is wrong. But I'd love to hear your opinions...

Drinking is alright, although I don't drink. Getting drunk is not alright though. After all, Jesus has turned water into wine; if it were a sin to drink at all, Jesus wouldn't have done it at the first place.

To me, drinking alcohol is like another Spurgeon's cigar type of thing. If you don't have what Spurgeon's cigar is, please email me and I will tell you.

In 1 Corinthians 10, it says, "'Everything is lawful,' but not everything is beneficial. 'Everything is lawful,' but not everything builds up. No one should seek his own advantage, but that of his neighbor."

Like what it says in the Bible, no one should seek his own advantage, but that of his neighbor. Just because you think drinking is okay, it does not necessarily mean that you can if you think that your action may lead someone else into sin.

Sometimes, God does give people some specific personal revelation/conviction. Like what Mr. T said how God had convicted to not wear those gold jewelries. And it would be wrong for Mr. T to keep wearing those gold jewelries; but since God didn't make this revelations to the rest of the world, so, it would be alright for us to wear gold jewelries unless some of us have also received similar revelation from God as that of Mr. T. This is basically what I meant by Spurgeon's cigar.

i discover it exciting that quite some the comparable people who will say that ingesting is a sin have not have been given any issues of a huge beef chow down. The Bible does no longer say particularly that ingesting is a sin. as a remember of actuality it says that John got here neither ingesting nor ingesting and he became labled a heretic, then the son of guy got here the two ingesting and ingesting and became additionally labled a heretic. God seems on the heart of the guy. If somebody has a project with alcohol, no longer waiting to have self administration, having an habit, then they could abstain. If one's ingesting reasons issues for others that could have a weak point, they could honor the different above themselves and abstain. Christians could quite think of approximately their purpose for ingesting, why a lager over a tumbler of water or a soda? is complicated liquor needed? Are you ingesting greater of an alcoholic beverage in one sitting than you may drink another variety of beverage? there isn't any scriptures condemning ingesting as a sin, what's substantial nevertheless is what's in the heart- the justifications and motivationss at the back of ingesting could nicely be very sinful.

Remember the scriptures when Jesus was invited to a wedding party. His mom Mary told Jesus later that the wine had run out. Jesus had others bring in barrels of water, which he promptly turned into wine so that the festivities would continue.
Considering this, why did'nt Jesus chastise everyone there for drinking an alcoholic beverage. Why would he create more wine? Seems to me that drinking was okay in his day. Helps to relax people to enjoy. Now along with drinking comes moderation. There's no excuse to going excessive and getting drunk.
It's up to the individual if they want to consume an alcoholic beverage. If they choose not to that's their perogitive. If they choose to drink, they should have the intelligence to know when to stop.

The Bible does not teach that drinking is wrong. it teaches that we are not to do anything to excess.

My ex pastor served in Germany for the better part of a year. They drink beer at meals. Different cultures have different ideas about alcohol. If you can drink without becoming drunk to excess, then it is up to you as to whether it is a hindrance to you and those around you. You can drink to much, but you can also watch TV to much, eat to much, work to much, Anything you do that gets in the way of your relationship with God is to excess.

As an aside, "wine" in biblical days was nothing like it is today. It was very mild and to the modern palate would be more like grape juice that wine.

Well, the Bible does speak against being drunk or allowing the alcohol to control you. It also says in Proverbs that wine is a mocker. It is one of those "gray" areas. Personally, I, on occasion, have a glass of wine with a good Italian meal. But, as I did recently, if I am dining with another Christian couple, I will ask them straight out before if by my having a glass of wine it will offend them or cause them a problem, if no, then I have it, if yes, then I abstain. If you feel convicted about it, don't do it. We are to do all things out of faith, if you believe it to be wrong, then abstain.

Why do you think it's wrong? There is absolutely nothing in the bible to back up that someone should never drink. I have a cocktail once in a blue moon; when I'm on a cruise I might have a pina colada. I don't see the problem. If you don't want to drink, fine....I hope you don't judge other Christians who don't feel the same way.

I think it's O.K. It's wrong to get drunk.

Some ppl have argued that the wine the Bible talks about was really grape juice. But that's impossible. In the days b4 refrigeration, there were only 3 ways to preserve food and drink. Dehydration, salting and fermentation. The Bible also suggests that there were ppl in the Corinthian church who were getting drunk on communion wine. Again, it had to be fermented.

Drunkeness is a sin- It is how you handle alcohol. I personally dont like it- but I would not judge someone who drank a beer everynight- if they were not getting drunk.

Luke 21:34
"Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap.

Romans 13:13
Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.

Galatians 5:21
and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Timothy 3:3
not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.

Titus 1:7
Since an overseer is entrusted with God's work, he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain.

Yes I think that drinking is wrong because God says in the Bible
Wine is a mocker strong drink is raging and whoever is deceived there by is not wise. it also says it is not for kings to drink and I think that means all Christians because we are children of God.
