Because most people prefer a deity who is simple-minded... like a man. A female deity reminds us too much of our mothers/wives/girlfriends - get it right or face some serious wrath. Dads are easy to fool and easier to please, Moms take work and have eyes in the back of their heads.
Hehe.... watch out!

A cultural failure of the language. There is no third person singular non-specific gender pronoun, and English speakers can't tell "gender" from "sex". So you either use "it' ("Show some respect, you heathen.!"), proper nouns only (stuffy), or you use some clumsy hybrid like "s/he" which just reminds everyone of the problem. Until someone comes up with a third-person singular neutral, we're stuck squabbling over the issue.
Anyone who seriously believes in God should not obssess over the poor deity's dangly bits. Do what you feel and hang the criticism. Their insecurity is not your problem.

Actually God has no gender.
It is easier for mankind (male and female) to use the male gender, but in truth God has no gender.
Many times in the bible the word man or mankind will be used and it will be referring to both men and women. Again, in translation it was easier than writing men and women over and over again.
God is no respector of persons, man nor woman. Yes, he made us different. We are incomplete without one another, hence the one flesh of marriage. As independant humans we do not like to think about this aspect of ourselves, but it does not make it any less truth.

If you're referring to God, then you're right. Hebrew is the original language of the Bible. It requires a gender for all nouns, therefore, the word God was assigned the masculine gender. That doesn't mean that God has a gender. We could refer to God as "it," but we don't because it doesn't sound nearly as personal as father, king, savior, etc.

Dear sweetkiti,
I am assuming that you are talking about Eternal God. The fact of the matter is that God always refers to Himself in the masculine sense. "If any man hath ears to hear, let him hear."

Sure, women are right ALL of the time. :-) That is because they are always changing their minds, so you can't keep track of what they are trying to say in the first place.:-) Peace and love!!!

If there is one creator, I doubt they have a specific gender. You need the masculine and feminine to balance things out
