There are clearly people from all countries here illegally. Ireland and the U.S. are considering an agreement that would in a since grant amnesty to the illegal immigrants here from Ireland. See following story. Should this be allowed?

DUBLIN (Reuters) - Thousands of Irish citizens living unlawfully in the United States could be legalized in return for more work permits for U.S. citizens lured to Ireland by its thriving economy, an Irish minister said on Wednesday.

"There is clear evidence to support the establishment of some form of bilateral agreement between the U.S. and Irish governments," Labour Minister Tony Killeen said in a statement after he returned from a trip to New York.
Killeen said that, while 30,000 to 40,000 illegal Irish immigrants were living in the United States, two centuries of mass emigration to the United States from Ireland because of famine and unemployment was clearly now at an end.

It seems unfair to grant this to the Irish only!

I am half Irish, and I still have family that lives over there and I say NO. No Amnesty, for anyone from ANY country. American sovereignty and best interest BEFORE trade interest. Their illegals need to be deported like all the rest of them. There is an economic boom in Ireland right now, and some of my family members have chosen to go back in light of their citizenship program for descendents of Irish immigrants, those 30 or 40 thousand illegal Irish can fill those jobs just as well as any American of Irish ancestry. Send 'em home, their country obviously needs them!

At least we would be getting something in return for this arrangement. This way many of us who would like to visit and live in Ireland could do so legally. I also find it amusing that anyone would be upset by this, as us whites are starting to get rather used to being told to go back to Ireland. What's wrong with trading people?

Its not fair or unfair. It is the way the world works. Mexico is not improving itself. Americans don't want to go to mexico unless on a vacation. Ireland is offering something to us instead of just taking from us. If mexico had equal jobs that americans wanted and were willing to take more us immigrants then we might want to deal with them but as of now mexico is not got anything to offer the united states. I'm not talking about mexicans I talking about the mexican government. Cheap labor is driving down wages and has become a major strain on our social services. Jobs that illegals work are paying the same thing they did 10 years ago. Also with the way we have let american companies leave this country for cheaper labor in 3rd world countries it has depleated our job market. ( yes this is still happening, my wife works at a sock mill and just yesterday she had to be in a training video to show the people of an 3rd world nation what they will be doing when the plant relocates.) With the way the middle class jobs are leaving this country our economy is in serious trouble. Since there is less money being spent here in the states companies like shaw industries are closing plants due to lack of sales. They closed there south pitsberg tennesee plant 2 years ago and are starting to close down their plant that I work at dec 23. The plant i work at employs over a thousand people in the stevenson alabama area. Sara Lea bakery in fort payne alabama closed its doors about 2 years ago due to the economy. It employed over a thousand people. The once sock capital of the world fort payne alabama has moved most of its jobs to 3rd world countries and now only has around 5 mills left. All of these jobs are withen 30 minutes of my home. In order to get a job now that my wife and my jobs are going away we are going to have to relocate or drive an hour and 1/2 one way to get a decent job because the rest of the jobs in my area are filled already by illegal immigrants from mexico. It will cost us more to spend in gas to drive that far then we would probably make. It is hard to relocated due to we have a mobile home. There is no way we could come up with the money to move it and if we let it go back we will have to file bankruptsy. I have 2 kids to think about too. What are citizens supposed to do with these stagering job losses in the south? We cannot keep providing jobs for illegal immigrants from mexico and letting our own people starve. The reason I say from mexico is because that is where they are coming from. If mexico had jobs it could offer as an exchange then it wouldn't be a big deal but we must support our on citizens 1st and formost.

Well, if this happens, does that mean that if the south american governments propose a trade agreement with us, we're to give banket amnesty to the millions of lations already here?

The illegal irish didn't jump the border in their lifetime, they are the result of poor record keeping in the ports of entry hundreds of years ago.

I am for deportation of ALL illegal aliens regardless of their country of origin.

Their presence here demonstrates their disregard for our nation and our laws.
