I would highly suggest a Vasectomy for the guy, rather then a Tubal Ligation for the girl. My hubby and I have had both. If I had known he was going to go ahead with the vasectomy, I never would have had a tubal.

A vasectomy is an outpatient surgery. You go in, you come out. Easy peasy. A tubal ligation is a real surgery and you are in the hospital for awhile. I had mine done right after my twins were born. So it wasn't that bad. However, there are side-effects of the surgery. Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome, premature menapause, higher risk of ectopic pregnancies, etc.

My tubal messed up my cycles. They were horrible. I seriously thought I was bleeding to death lol.

A vasectomy is a walk in the park compared to a tubal in my book. Plus they have the same failure rate, about 1%.

It is definitely cheaper and easier if the man does it. My brother had a vasectomy on a Friday, walked out of the doctor's office, sat in a recliner for two days with an ice pack, then went to work on Monday.

For women, there are several options, but the most widely used is the tubal ligation. It requires a hospital stay ($$$), some insurances don't cover it and you have small incisions in your abdomen.

If you can talk your man into doing it, it is the best route, but they are such pansies about the PAIN! It doesn't hurt that bad. My brother said it was more uncomfortable, but wasn't really in writhing pain.

It is much better to have the man fixed(pardon my language) rather than the woman!!

It only takes a man two days, Sat. & Sun. to heal up after the surgery (ice in the area).

It takes a few weeks for a woman to heal up after the surgery.

And the man can go back to work the following Monday after having the surgery done on the Friday before.

A woman will be out of work for weeks!!

The results are excellent as well for the man, only a .5% chance of getting his wife pregnant after having the surgery. One last piece of info. - "After a woman gets fixed it can Not reversed, it is permanent. but for the man, the surgery Can be reversed!!

I would suggest to really think about it before you decide to do the surgery. You might regret it later in life. Who wants to have the surgery you or him? I had a tubal ligation and regreted it. You can have side effects, the doctor usually do not tell you about these.
If I could do it over I would not have gone through it. It is not worth all the side effects.

i wouldn't recommend it for anyone except those men and women who have kids one right after another and don't take care of them. i have two friends that got there tubes tied and now they both regret it because they want another kid so bad. you should try getting an IUD. it doesn't require surgery, and you get to leave it in for five years. plus if you change your mind and want to have a baby before the five years are up then you can have it taken out.

MEN! It is a simple out patient procedure in a doctor's office....most men are not even put totally out.

For women, it is surgery in the hospital, you are put completely under....and it costs more with greater risks!

Besides...we went through pregnancy and labor, they can go through a little snip and clip.

I had it done because we have 2 healthy happy boys and do not want anymore. It was a day surgery for me I had no complications and was fully recovered in 2 weeks. I did it because my husband is a chicken and would not go in himself.

It's an outpatient procedure for a guy. He can have it over and done with in about 30 minutes and recover in a weekend. I watched our doc do my hubby's procedure.
