My husband is drinking protein shakes before gym, and our son always finds a reason to try some of it. He just loves the taste. I'm not sure if protein shakes are good or bad for his age. Any idea how to explain that it's too early for him?

I make "healthy" shakes for him (milk+fruits+some ice cream), but he still wants some of his dad's :(

Kids need protein in their diet. You could always give him just a little or maybe get some ovaltine and make that for him. I would look up the suggested daily allowances for kids and determine what kids should have. How much protein, carbs, etc... A small amount every so often should be fine.

There is really nothing wrong with protein shake if he takes a little bit. You should just give him some chocolate mix.

instead make him his own protein shakes, I guarnatee he will love them, and they will be good for him.

Use 1 package of Carnation instant breakfast, chocolate flavored, 1 banana, 1 tabelspoon of peanut butter ( unless he is allergic to peanuts, a scoop of Ice cream, blend it all together with some milk, Great tasting, and good for any age

I would simply explain it the same way you would beer or wine. "It's an adult beverage son." Maybe ween him off the protein shakes and give him different shakes instead.

this is easy!

Have his dad tell him the other shakes are better for him. He is just trying to be like his dad.
