I did exactly the same thing! Apart from I lost it in Canada when I went on holiday to see my relatives. I just told her the truth. I don't know your mom but I know that I would always prefer the truth than some lie. Appologise, that's all you can do and remember, accidents happen. Good luck!

Ouch. Well, there's two Big Truths at work here:
1) everybody makes mistakes;
2) there's no real escape from the consequences.
So you've told the school's office you lost the phone, right? Had a friend with a cell call your number where you think you lost it (so you can hear it ring)?
Told your mom "I'm really sorry - I lost my cell phone?"
There's no great way to dress up a mistake so it looks better. Politicians have tried for centuries. A simple "I did it and I'm sorry," is best, along with any real explanation (NOT EXCUSE), as in "I got distracted and when I got up, I left it there." It's not like your mom's never made a mistake, or lost anything. If you've waited to tell her, then you tell her why you waited, as in, "I was afraid to tell you because I knew you'd be mad, and I was looking all over for it."
Then you pay the consequences, 'cause that's part of growing (and growing up), and next time you get a cell, you're more careful about where you put it.
Sigh. Good luck!

Yikes! First, try to locate it. Go to the Lost and Found. Call your cell phone from your home phone. If someone answers, tell them to please return your cell phone for a reward. Then, if you can't find it, go immediately to your mom and tell her something horrible has happened, you feel totally irresponsible, but you know you have to tell her (in case someone is racking up long bills on your number!). I used to tell my grandmother first and she'd help me know what to say to my mom when I did something stupid.

Tell her the truth. I have learned that parents love you no matter how badly you mess up sometimes, and losing a phone isnt' a big deal. Lying...no that will lead to trouble. Just be honest, and your parents will trust and respect you for it. Sure, they will be mad for a little while, but the benefit of long term trust will be worth it later.

tell her so you can get it cut off! She'll still be paying for it until you tell her. Plus, better sooner then later. If you file a police report and have insurance you can get another one. But if nothing else, tell her you lost it!

You should tell her immediately before somebody finds it and starts running up the bill. Did you go to the office to see if somebody might have turned it in? If it's not there, you'll just have to tell her.
