I'm sorry I might have heard wrong about his young wife. Upon further investigation I have looked at early records. Here is a list of his wives:

Presendia Huntington Buell
Agnes Coolbrith
Sylvia Sessions Lyon
Mary Rollins Lightner
Patty Bartlett Sessions
Marinda Johnson Hyde

Sarah Kingsley Cleveland
Delcena Johnson
Eliza R. Snow
Sarah Ann Whitney
Martha McBride Knight
Ruth Vose Sayers
Flora Ann Woodworth
Emily Dow Partridge
Eliza Maria Partridge

Lucy Walker
Sarah Lawrence
Maria Lawrence
Helen Mar Kimball

Nancy and Helen were 14. A few others were 16 and 17. So I sincerely apologize for being a year off the age.
However he might have still shown up on Dateline though.

Joeseph Smith set the example, and Bring'em Young followed it.
I don't know about Dateline, but he could be a Poster Child for AA.

Yep; one of the things the early Mormon church had going for it was the time period. They could run away from civilization and create their own refuge before anyine could come and stop them.
The difference between a cult and a reeligion is about 100 years, now the LDS is looked upon as a respectible religion insteaad of the cult it was back then. Of course they have dropped some of their more offensive practices.

It is easy to judge the past with rules created by our society in our culture today.
First, I would like proof that he married and had sex with a 13 year old. As of yet, it is only speculation. Second, even if it is true, wasn't that a common age to get married in frontier America. My grandmother married at 15, and that was only 90 years ago, and in Washington DC.
Why do we today feel we have such the corner on morality? Look around at the terrible things in the world and ask, are we really more moral today than in the 1800's?

No, becuase he was a Prophet of God who was leading the Lords church. He was not some wanna-be aposate.
Joseph's life was threatened many times and he lived thru many challenges until the Lord was ready for him to leave his earthly mission. Further, he was jailed and let go so many times becuase again, he was not finished with his mission.
Joseph was and still is..... a Prophet of God.

Emma Smith was born in 1804 and married in 1827 that makes her 23 jackass.
addition:
The plural marriage directive was not revealed until 1843. That cuts your list in half. Next, a lot of women claimed to be married to him after his death in search of celebrity. He was killed in 1844, hardly enough time since alot of the time between he spent in jails. doing research in anti-mormon websites will obviously not yield accuracy.

Probably yes to the first question...
Mary's age wasn't mentioned in the Bible.
I can think of one other man that would be on dateline...marrying a nine year old and consummating the marriage...
Makes my skin crawl...
