Ok, I went last night to see a 4 week old puppy that I am buying (a Maltipoo) He is sooo cute. Anyway, my question is is it ok to bring the puppy home at 7 weeks instead of 8? I just want to make sure before I do, I can't wait to get my puppy but I also want him to be healthy and happy.

As long as the puppy is eating hard food or even soft food and drinking water than you can take it home at any age. If the mom is still feeding it then it needs to stay with her until it eats food and drinks water on it's own.

Ideally, smaller breeds especially, should be with mom until they are 10 -12 weeks old. Most reputable breeders keep pups at least 10 weeks, this time in their life is crucial in learning how to be a dog basically, and how to socialize with animals and humans. The longer the pup is with mom the better. The MINIMUM I would recommend is 8 weeks.

To be totally honest, you shouldn't buy this dog at all. The fact that this breeder is willing to let him go at 7 weeks says that this is not a good breeder.

Plus, the fact that this dog is a "Maltipoo," nothing more than a glorified mixed breed dog.

Puppies really should stay with their litter mates until 10-12 weeks old.
Usually most reputable breeders will not let them go until 12 weeks. But then again, "true" breeders do not breed mixes.
But regardless... I would wait.
Good luck with the pup. :)

Nope, you won't be able to. One fall or incorrect hit contained in the tummy may reason you to miscarry so in case you want to save your toddler and your self healthful i'd go away cheerleading out of the blend. Your clinical specialist must have informed you contact activities are out once you're pregnant.

It depends on if the momma is still nursing them. The mom's usually know when to stop and the pups shouldn't be separated from the mom till they're done.

dont do that because the dogs still need their mom at the age of 7 weeks. its the same as taking a human baby away from its mom before its mature. :))

Yes it is fine. They can be 6 weeks old to bring home. make sure the puppy is winged from the mother. When I bought my puppy, they told me to give her a can of wet food a day to keep her sugar level up til she got bigger. She only weighed 1 lb. when I got her.
