i think its the caffeine. caffeine is almost like a drug...I'm sure you're not addicted to the sugar...and if you think differently You can try using less sugar or sugar substitutes like splenda. I hope this helped

Caffeine is a drug. Sugar is a Nutrient. You are addicted to the Caffeine. Caffeine is bad. I hate caffeine. Withdrawl sucks.. If you get migraines the day after not drinking coffee, you know what I mean..

My husband drinks his coffee with 1/3 cup of sugar and believe me that much sugar he is dependent on all with the sugar and the caffeine
I have tried to get him to use stevia to decrease the sugar

There is an easy way to test this. For one week...drink your coffee without sugar and for the next week drink decaf with sugar...see when the withdrawal symptoms are more severe.
Most likely you are slightly addicted to both.
