Your telly is specifically programmed to show the same series of an old Crossroads episode until you see the error of your ways (that's if you indeed have a telly)
But seriously - was there not a tiswas earlier this year when somebody who didn't have a telly was pestered via post from Bristol, with letters inferring that officials (of whatever importance) will 'have a right' to enter his home?

The worst that can happen is the inspector gets a warrant and returns with police...Although we are now hooked up to receive and are currently paying licensing fees, when we first returned home after 2 years overseas we were not and only had the TV hooked up to a DVD player for 2 months..
An inspector came knocking and asked me if we had a TV, I answered honestly but I refused to allow him in the house telling him it was not convenient, he wasn't happy about this; tough!.. It is not against the law to "own" a TV without a licence, using it to receive outside signals is another matter.. Unless the law has changed, no one can make you pay for a licence if you do not receive.

They bring a pile of applications for warrants to the magistrates' court every week and get them signed. It's all pretty routine and they are not normally required to give particulars. Depending on their turnover, they could be back within two or three weeks. It's irritating to be badgered over not having a TV, but honestly, it's better to sign the statement than to be bothered by these people later on.

not even the police can enter your house without a warrant, you have to invite them in. If you really have no TV drag it out. What fun! x

If you HAVEN'T got a TV anyway why bother stopping them! They are more likely to think you are lying and go to the courts to obtain a warrent to search the property. This is not only a waste of their, the Police & Court time but it costs money and who foots the bill, The TAXPAYER and as one I resent it being wasted like that!!!!

It sounds like its not worth your while to be honest, just sign the thing. If however you are actually asking because you have a TV but no licence (which is more likely) then I hope you get a fine.

You have a TV licensing bureau where you live?!?!?!
Sounds like a scam actually. Verify the existance and authority of the group with your local gov't.

Ignore them, if a snooper comes round, say nothing to them, shut the door in their face. They have to prove that you dont have a TV, there's no requirement for you to sign anything.
