Neither.
But would not the choice be more dependant upon geographical and economic concerns than theological for an Atheist making this choice?

I think I'd rather be a VERY liberal christian. They seem very kind, intellectual and tolerant of other paths. Kind of like a Unitarian Universalist with just a thin coating of Jesus.
p.s. And I celebrate christian as an atheist because its a cultural holiday. Just like I celebrate Saint Valentines Day and I'm not a catholic and Halloween and I don't believe in evil spirits.

I dont think this is a question an atheist can answer. I have chosen to be an atheist. I do not believe in god, nor do I believe in the teachings, as far as god goes, in either religion. To chose a religion when you dont believe isnt logical. I do think the moral teachings of both religions can have value, but I also think that both have grave consequences when taken literally.

well since this is a hypothetical question, and I have complained about asshats being unable to answer hypothetical questions before, mainly christians, but now i see quite a few atheists are having trouble with the meaning of hypothetical as well, I would choose to be a christian, as that is what my children are.

A Christian, because, now-a-days, that generally only "requires" one to give lip service, as opposed to the Muslims which seem to require a fair bit of proof from their faithful that they are true believers...assuming of course, that I had to choose a public persona from just those two options...it wouldn't make me a believer though.

I'd have to say Muslim, only because at least that religion kept the sciences alive during the dark ages. Also they are responsible for a lot of our mathematics, our numbering system, the concept of zero, and our alphabet.
But thankfully I have a choice...do you?

If I had only those choices I would be a Christian. You can keep sinning, just ask for forgiveness. Then do it again, repeat process.

Having studied Christianity, its history, and claims, I absolutely know it to be a falsehood. I am left with Islam, which I know also to be a falsehood, but understand less thoroughly. I would become a Muslim and within 2 weeks become an Atheist again!

I'd rather be an atheist.
BTW, why did you narrow things down to only 2 of the hundreds of religions?

It's irrelevant. I don't believe in God, so I can't be a part of either religion unless I lied. Then I would go to your hell anyways, right? So what's the point again??
