I would like to know ther term which is used to indicate the group of say 20 to 30 or more house in a colony and all the houses looks similar.

The term in the U.S. is "cookie cutter houses". They all look like cookies made from a single cookie cutter.

In Soviet Union Nikita Khrushchev wanted to "fight" the problem with dwelling for people (two, three and sometimes more families had to live in one apartment, sharing the kitchen, bathroom, hall, etc). They built a bunch of concrete apartment buildings (a rectangular box) that looked similar to all in the neighborhood. Such neighborhoods, usually consisting of 50-100 buildings were called "microregions". That's what I would call such a group as you describe... ;-)

In the 60's there was a song about that, "Little Boxes." It explains it all.

"Row houses" this term is commonly used...by people in the construction industry in Chennai, India

i think the similar kind of houses are in some quarters made by government for their employees
eg railway quarters ,post office etc
