im a smoker (have been since i was 11 now im 13 1/2) people allways talk about freedom to all. but i guess they dont include people who smoke. in the 50' signs were on buildings that said no coloreds.but now they say no smoking, we get baned from public placesand noone shows any grieff. and me as a proud african american i have to say, we are in this great country simply because of tobaco. i just learned that yesterday in history.
but now too my point people say they dont let you smoke in public
places because of the smell then how come they dont bane stinky people. im allergic to cats how come they dont bane people with cat hair on their garmins?

You raise some interesting points. I believe smoking has replaced alcohol as the Prohibited item. I think the ban on smoking has gone way too far. I am a former smoker. I'm glad I quit although I really didn't want to. I began smoking at about your age and quit when I was about 41. When I quit, smoking was still acceptable, but not as acceptable as it had been.
Smoking became taboo when links were made between second hand smoke and people who didn't smoke getting sick. I don't know if it's ever been proven that second hand smoke causes illness or not.
At your age and at the cost of cigarettes today and for your own health reasons, really try to give it up. Your health may be fine now but later smoking will take its toll on you.
If it's any consolation, when I quit, I really DID NOT want to quit. You've not been smoking too long. It will be easier to quit now.
Good luck.

Well, buddy I smoke too, And black or white, pink or purple, some people just don't want to be exposed to a dangerous smoke cloud. They may have been careful their whole lives to stay as healthy as possible. Just smoke away from others and shut up about it! Everyone is in this country from somewhere else too and for reasons more complicated than Tobacco crops. Only natives were here before anyone. We have to live together we must learn the rules and tolerance of others around us. Follow simple rules and you'll live happier.

I'm behind you 100%.

There is absolutely no scientific proof that second-hand smoking is dangerous. The study to which everyone refers was debunked as junk science almost immediately after it was published, but, since it said what a lot of people wanted to hear, they still refer to it.

I am offended by people who wear strong perfume or cologne in restaurants. I'm trying to enjoy my dinner, and some idiot walks by wearing about a gallon of Old Spice. It makes me want to puke, but they are welcome everywhere.

Now they keep passing laws that people can't even smoke in a private business. If a guy owns a bar, restaurant, whatever, why is it any of the government's business if the owner allows smoking. If you don't like it, don't go there. It's that simple!

I'm with you!!!! They say it's for your health, then they make you go out in the snow and wind to smoke.....besides, they don't have the same restrictions for drinking.....do they? I feel you restrict and rule one, the other should be restricted also.
