That we're angry at God or that we believe in God deep down.
Either that or as Jaime so arrogantly points out, the concept that we just don't want to be responsible. Most atheists I know are more ethical than the christians I know.

Biggest misconceptions:
We hate God.
We are mad at God.
We are merely rebelling against God / our parents / society / ourselves.
We worship Satan.
We worship ourselves.
We worship science.
We never gave Christianity / Islam / Buddhism / Scientology / Flying Spaghetti Monsterism a chance.
We never gave the Bible a chance.
We didn't understand the Bible.
We had a psychologically scarring childhood which lead to disillusionment, bitterness and rejection of God.
We are evil.
We are immoral / amoral / prone to bad behavior.
We all believe in evolution / the big bang / communism.
We're afraid to be accountable for our actions.
We're afraid of being subjected to the will of a higher power.
Misconceptions about atheism:
It is a religion.
It is a belief.
It requires faith.
It is hatred of religion.
It is rejection of morality.
My opinion: Many of these are outright contradictory and impossible. If a person does not believe in God, they couldn't possibly hate, fear, rebel against or feel anger towards that in which they DO NOT BELIEVE. Obviously Satan goes hand in hand with God as imaginary characters so atheists don't worship Satan the actual being (I'm not saying atheists can't be Satanists but I'd generally wager that they don't actually believe in Satan). Many more misconceptions merely insult the intelligence and humanity of the atheist and are quite obviously false. One need only interact with any random group of atheists to find out that they are not ignorant, weak, defiant sociopaths.
It's unfortunate that so much misinformation has been disseminated about atheists and atheism. It's quite appalling that the Christian church has had such an active role in demonizing atheists. It's also encouraging that in this age of readily accessable information more people are educating themselves on what atheism REALLY is.

I think that one of the biggest misconceptions some Christians have about Atheists is that there is no way they can be good people. So not true!

My favorite is they must be evil, because they think differently from us. I know it's like wow isnt that why Jesus was crucified
according to the very bible they believe in. Its all so amusing.
Personally for someone who is not an atheist, but has experienced more love and acceptance from them on this forum.
I would say that athesists are much more closer to the truth, and the core of their being, instead of lost as christians believe them to be.
I wish you well

No, I think most are realist who are very much into science and scientific proof. Unless it can be logically explained, they do not find it rational to step out of the comfort zone and experience Jesus Christ. Since they do not believe it rational, they can not experience it, they lack FAITH, which is need to obtain a relationship with Christ. A bad experience, I would say, has very little to do with their disbelief. That is to say about true atheists, not those just going with the current flavor of things or peers, those people have no clue as to why they believe or do not believe in anything, as they are just going with the flow. Just my thoughts.
I am a Christian by the way.

That we worship ourselves, or humanity. The idea of worshiping something is so ingrained into their thinking that many find it impossible to believe that there actually are people who don't worship anything.
Another is that, because we reject the idea that God is the foundation of morality, that we *have* no morality and think that everyone should just feel free to do whatever they like, that "anything goes." Of course, nothing could be farther from the truth. We simply see morality as something born of necessity, founded on social history and human needs.

They think that praying for me is going to bring me around to their way of thinking. Not a chance! Some are really puzzled and say things like, "How can you be an atheist? - you're a nice person." Do they think we have cloven feet and horns?

All living things die eventually, even you will. That's just a really poor excuse to use to not believe in God.
