I found a really nice ring today. I think I'm going to get it but I don't know what size to get because I need to decide what finger I want it on! Besides the left hand ring finger (which is saved for a wedding ring) what meanings are associated with rings on other fingers?

Your pointer fingers are good neutral fingers.
I'd say second best would be the middle finger of your right hand.

The thumb is the willpower finger. This is the finger that signals the approval of "thumbs up" or "thumbs down", that points to the self in a moment of personal pride, that closes over a fist when personally attacked. This tucking of the thumbs into the palms or beneath a surface is the only way to restrict the willpower; the thumb is the only finger that is never restricted by a ring. Should you meet someone who is wearing some type of band around the thumb, consider if that person might have a severe or self-imposed limitation of willpower and logic

The first, or index finger is the authority finger. This is the finger that wags in disapproval, that gestures informed or stubborn expertise, that indicates silent direction and commands

The second finger is the identity finger. This is the finger most often used in obscene gesturing when one wishes to express an offense to personal dignity. A ring on this finger can announce that the person is unsure of personal roles or a place in society.

The ring finger on the left hand is the only one with a direct connection to the heart. It is therefore more than coincidence that this became the finger that we restrict with a band at the marriage ceremony.

The little finger is the relationship finger.T o wear a ring on the little finger might announce an insecurity in relationships with people, perhaps even a sexual insecurity

Actually, that's about it. Anything else is fair game. The right handed ring finger is reserved for a wedding band in Europe.

I have heard it talked of by a jeweler though, that it is common to make some assumptions about people based on what fingers they use for rings. A ring on the ring finger is very traditional. A ring on the middle or index finger is the mark of osmeone less bound by tradition- and especially on the index finger it signifies someone with a take charge attitude. Someone with a pinky ring thinks of themself as high class. This may not be a common perception, just something i've heard.

My take on it- put it where it's comfortable.

I don't know of any other meanings of fingers, other than the left-hand ring finger being for your wedding ring. I prefer to wear a ring on my right-hand ring finger, if I can, because on my ring finger the ring is less likely to bother me when writing or doing other activities.

I like middle and ring fingers of both hands. They seem to make the ring seem more....at home, I guess. I think rings on pinky or index fingers draw too much attention.

I love thumb rings - if the ring is appropriate for your thumb. Otherwise, I say your middle finger.
