It's a bit high for that year, but it's a diesel, so you've got at least another 100k, most likely another 3 or 400k before the motor really starts showing it's age. (if you are in a huge metro area like an LA, Houston, or Atlanta type of place where it's common for people to commute 30 min to 1.5 hours, then it's right in line)
What you need to be concerned with is the turbo, that's what's going to go first.
I'd say as long as the price is right, diesel fuel is readily available for your area, the paint and body are good for your price, and the interior is decent shape, then you should be alright.

Have it checked out all over first. VW's can have a lot of problems after 100,000 miles.

!00k is a bit much for a 5 yr old car. You should average between 12k and 15k miles per year on a car, so a low ball figure would be 60k and a high ball would be 75k miles. That car is several years in miles over.....
Hopefully it is pretty cheap and is still a dependable car.

That is considered high mileage. Go to Kelley Blue Book to get the private party value of the car.

since its a diesel engine then it will run for ever...BUT since it has 305000 miles u might have to change a few things on the suspension. if i had this car and i was selling it, i would sell it for 3500 o.b.o. $6000 is a little bit to much for it talk him down to $4000 or $3500
