The difference is usually the price!! A bistro is less formal than a restaurant, a bit like the roadside cafe,s that you see in Paris.

A bistro usually serves in the French style and is french for restaurant, to the best of my understanding.

a bistro has really fancy food that looks good. like food art. it looks reallly appetizing. a resteraunt has regular food that is made for its taste
