What would Jesus Christ think? Probably would drive 'em out like the moneychangers in his day!

Here is the problem. A church rents space in a strip mall. There are book stores, restaurants etc all around it. No one declares this bad.

Now for inside the doors of a chuch. In the santuary, there should be nothing to interfer with the worship of the Lord.

Outside the sanctuary, we have offices, nursery, kitchens, fellowship halls. None of these is bad. I see nothing wrong with coffee shops and restaurants that maintain 100 percent the values of Jesus Christ. It would be an extension of the fellowship of one toward another and I would really enjoy having my coffee and fellowship with another Christian without hearing curse words and other vulgarities from the table near me.

The only thing that would be absolute is to keep it out of and away from the santuary. You should not be able to leave one and enter the other through a common door.

Jesus did not kick these money changers and sacrifise sellers out of the church grounds all together, he kicked them out of the inner santuary where the worship of the Lord was done by all the people waiting for the high priest to offer their sacrifice inside and behind the curtain at the mercy seat.

There were undoubtedly others outside the inner sanctuary selling sacrifices and also money changers, Jesus left them alone.

Jesus wouldn't care. If Jan Crouch can go on TV and beg for grocery money from pensioners and other poor people (to further finance her $340 million empire), then what is wrong with having a coffee shop in church? At least the believers could congregate in a place where they share their similar beliefs. Is it any different from any other service that a service might provide (such as daycare, meals-on-wheels, etc.?)

The church is making all the money from the store inside the church. So do you think that Jesus would kick the deciding preacher out of the church? I really don't care, because I thought God was all around us. It really shouldn't matter what stupid people want to do with their property. If it upsets you that much, stop trying to be a christian, cause you obviously don't have the patience, or just go to church at home. Waa Waa Waa

It's easier to keep the hostages that way--much more convenient than having to leave them alone to go get food ro have some delivery boy notice they're tied to a chair inm front of the brainwashing machine

From my experience in church as a child, I think a good cup of coffee might have come in handy...
