If it is a lie, then let it do just that lye. Don't react to it because that is what people want you to do, if you didn't do it or whatever it is, isn't true, then eventually the truth will be known. Trust me.... I had a lie put out on me once and I know it hurts because you don't want people thinking such things of you but the more stink I made about it, the more it stunk. So if you let it ride, then people will too. Some stones are better left unturned. Be bigger then the person who made up this vicious rumor. Haters are all over!!!

say "does that sound like something I would do?'' Then explain to them that you are not the kind of person to "mudsling" about anyone else. People who really know you will not believe the lies, and those that do aren't friends. It is an uncomfortable situation to be in, but acting with class will show you to be a better person than the one spreading the lies.

Best reaction is no reaction, If they know they are getting to you they will continue. other wise they just look like an idiot for spreading rumors. real friends wouldn't care what was said or know it isn't true cuz they know you. Give it time, they will end up looking like the fool. Most important, don't care what people think of you when mean spirit comes into play. If you know it's not true staying calm will reflect that.

it is a moral imperitive that you get even with this person or you will lose respect among your peers... you do not owe anyone an explanation... my advice... turn the tables on the person by altering the story to look bad for that person and spread it around...liberally!
