Its just one more way to control us. If you read the bible no were in there does it say "Thou shalt not drink alcholol" It does talk about not over indulging in it, but it doenst say dont do it ever. THe bible talks about Christ comeing eating and drinking.....and his first miracle was turning water into wine. Drinking is fine, but the bible says to be sober minded...so just dont get wasted!

To keep their temple (body) clean and pure and holy. You are right, Jesus did turn water to wine, if he thought it wrong, I don't think he would have performed that miracle. I believe he drank wine as well, as he was accused of being a drunkard (which is not true) but I believe what he drank at the last supper was wine. It basically says so in the Bible. So, as a Christian, I think it is ok to drink moderately, to be a drunk and not have control or to drink to get drunk, that would be a sinful act. Moderation is the key, not abusing it.

Hypocrisy. Not all Christians worldwide adhere to "no alcohol consumption" doctrine. Its not even biblical (abstaining from drinking) unless you were a nazarite, who is One who lives apart; one who has made a vow of abstinence; in the former sense used as early as Sifra, Emor, iv. 3; Sifre, Num. 23.
God does say do not be drunk with much wine, but be filled with the Holy Spirit. Ive been drunk before, and I dont get drunk when I drink anymore. Why? not because I take a chaser pill, but because I drink less. Yes! That's all! amazing, I know, but its called moderation. That is what the bible talks about. Now, if it causes YOU to sin or act-a-fool if I drink, then, me being more mature than you, would have to abstain from drinking, IN FRONT OF YOU, for fear that my actions cause you to stumble.

Some Christians are completely against alcohol consumption and I don't know why. You are right. The wedding at Cana was Jesus first miracle. We are told to refrain from becoming drunk but alcohol in itself is not bad.

I've done a study on this. In the Bible there are 2 different types of wine, fermented(alcoholic) and unfermented(nonalcoholic) which is pretty much just grape juice. Jesus and his followers drank unfermented wine. But before I learned that I was against it because of the temptation, and association.

All Christians should actually be against alcohol consumption...because if you look in the bible yourself there's a section where alcohol is mentioned and it says that it shouldnt be consumed...along with swine/pork....and i bet wine around Jesus's time period wasnt infiltrated with alcohol..like it is today

I am a muslim. I will tell you a little story. You know wine is haram (forbidden) in Islam.
There was once a good man. He was captured and they brought him to a room and told him that he must commit a sin; but he could choose one of three: either to kill an old man, to sleep with a woman, or to drink wine. He thought: 'Killing is the worst thing I could do and I can never commit adultry. Drinking wine is the best bad thing I could do inthis situation'. So he drank the wine. He got drunk and wanted to sleep with the woman but couldn't because the old man was there so he killed him and committed adultry with her!
I am sure you get the morale of the story :)
Peace

First Corinthians 6:10 says that drunkards will not inherit the kingdom of heaven. Now I know you will say that you can drink alcohol without getting drunk, but I personally don't know anyone who drinks alcohol who has never at one time or another been drunk.

we're not against it completely, just not to the point of excess
Luke 21:34
And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
Romans 13:13
Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
Galatians 5:21
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
