In the US, the First Amendment allows you to push your beliefs. Thankfully, it allows the other person to tell you to f**k off.

I believe in freedom of speech so I think people should be able to talk about their beliefs if they wish. I also however, think they need to respect the fact we live in a diverse world where others are entitled to differing beliefs. I think that also means we can't give preference in the public sphere to faith based ideologies. For instance some Christians feel the Bible should be taught to school children or creationism taught as science. This is wrong in my point of view. I think there is a line here to draw between freedom of speech to say what you wish and the need to respect the beliefs and feelings of others. I think some Christian groups have gotten extremely pushy so that more agnostic/atheist and other religious groups feel the need to push back just to say "hey, wait a minute, not everyone wants this or agrees with you." Books like Sam Harris' and Richard Dawkin's are examples. I normally wouldn't like to see people try to put down another's beliefs even though I might not personally share them but I think once they start trying to implement their beliefs in ways that impact others who don't share their beliefs it is acceptable.

So you are cool if gays push their beliefs and communists push their beliefs and Scientology's push their beliefs?
If you are then you get an A+ in the tolerance rating.
Personally, I don't mind when anybody pushes their beliefs as long as they are respectful and go away when I ask them to. It's a free country, after all.

I try to live by the words attributed to St. Francis of Assisi: "Preach the Gospel at all times. If necessary, use words."
To me, there is a difference between sharing your beliefs and pushing them. If people are forced or bullied into a religion, what kind of faith do they really have in it? It seems to me a very sandy ground on with to build a spiritual life.

No. Why should I have to listen to someone ranting about how I should become a Christian or something awful will happen to me? Or how I'm ruining my daughter's life because I don't take her to church, or any of a thousand other hurtful statements like that? If people want to "push their beliefs" let do it through their actions, and wait til I ask to know.

if a person pushes their beliefs at me after I say I am not interested then the fight is on, religious theory is an argument I love to have if you want to share you ideals and beliefs I stand up for your right but if you want to push them then I condemn you for you are no better than the Satan who you and your fellow Christians are against for preaching at me makes you my Adersary and Satan is the Hebrew word for Adversary.

No. I think it's rude. If I had someone start lecturing me because I was a non-believer, and continue to push me, I would either push them off my front steps, or push them out of my way.
I have my beliefs, you have your beliefs. I choose not to believe in God, you do. Neither one of us will know who's right on our death bed, nor does it matter who's right. I don't care who's right or wrong. I just want to live my life the way I choose to live it, and I don't want to listen to someone tell me I'm wrong.

I think it's okay tell people what you believe but no body likes having any one elses beliefs pushed on them nonstop.people like to know what other people think, if they didn't this forum would not exist. Tell them what you think, if they want to hear more they will ask. if they seem annoyed or disinterested change the subject.
