I live in a duplex, side by side, and we share a yard with the neighbor. He has two pit bulls that are always out in the back yard to get exercise and do their "business" But it's a huge problem because I have two little boys, and the neighbor won't pick up the dog mess. I can't even let the boys play outside! Not to mention the guy himself is just horrible..party guy a "Homie" and throws trash out side. His dogs have dug up the yard, and I'm not comfortable being out there. I'd love to be able to garden and have the kids enjoy outside, without having to go to a park. Any help?

I would contact your landlord and ask him to make an unanounced visit some time to see what the yard looks like. You might possibly ask if you can put up some kind of barrier between your half and the neighbors to prevent the dogs access to at least some of the space. I sure don't blame you for not wanting holes all over or not wanting to worry about what you might step in.
You might also see if the landlord will maybe ask the other renter to obtain a proper kennel for the dogs to place in the back yard so they don't have full run of it unless he is out there to monitor and clean up after them.

First of all ELASTICA, you are so stupid! You should stop listening to Michael Moore's propaganda and form some opinions based on fact. Second, I would suggest getting a few of your biggest guy Friends to come over and have your own party with classic rock blaring as loud as it can go. Then when Homie comes out to complain have your Friends beat the ever living piss out of him. Be sure also to have some dog pepper spray (Halt is great) and a big stick or cattle prod or something in case he releases the hounds. After your Friends are through with him, inform him of your reasonable demands to half of the yard and I think you will find he would be happy to acquiesce.

Complain to your landlord.
Tell him you are afraid to let your children out in the yard because the Pit Bulls might attack them. Tell him about the holes the dogs as well as the trash situation which is a health hazard.(In my opinion, there should be a fence dividing the two units.)
If that doesn't work, try one or both of the following:
Complain to animal control about the lack of cleaning up after his dogs.
Complain to the health department about the trash.
There are laws in every state regarding these situations.

Sounds like a BIG fan of George W. and Homer Simpson!
I am SO SO SO Sorry for you!!!! Really, I am!!!
Well, it's a push come to shove situation, and I'm afraid the only thing you can do is go and ask him if he has any plans to "upgrade to another location" (in other words, is he ever going to move his horrible @ss out of there?) If NOT..... You must be the proactive party and plan on selling and moving out. You can really do nothing more as far as his type goes. It's like being affected by a disease or a force of nature. You need to believe things will drastically improve if you take action in allowing him to force you out. Best of luck...And again...I am SO sorry for this situation of yours!!

I would contact your landlord and see about putting up a fence between your 2 yards. I would also contact animal control, more than likely if he doesn't seem to be a good pet owner then his dogs aren't vaccinated and that could be harmful to your sons.

If you have talked to him, and not had any results try to contact the landlord and the city zoning officials. He can be ticketed for not cleaning up his animal waste and garbage in many towns. If he is partying too much, find out with the noise ordinance is in your town and if he is making too much noice past quiet time, call the police.

im afraid that you and your boys are never going to beable to relax or have fun in your shared yard until your neighbour starts taking responsibility and picks up the crap his dogs are making. have you ever spoken to him? have you ever explained what your problem is. if your to intimidated by him or he is just the most unreasonable guy ever speak to your local authority see if they can help. deep down he might not realise what a big problem his dogs mess is to you and if you explain it nice and calmly could change his ways. if not and hes a git bout it wont change his ways and makes your life a missery i would move. your not giving in to your neighbour just giving you and your 2 boys the happiness you should have.

Is this in a complex like a condominium complex where there's a homeowners association? If there is, you can go to the next meeting and complain to them.
Does he give the impression of being an a*hole where you can't just go over to him and ask him to clean up after his dogs? Explain to him like you explained it here.

If he's renting report him to the owner. If he is the owner check the city bylaws about garbage and if there is one about having feces and garbage on the property you can report him to the bylaw officer and he will get fined until he cleans up his mess. Better yet call up the bylaw office and ask them if it's an offence.
