Eat something before but keep it simple like a sandwich and fries or chips, remember you're about to introduce some crazy stuff to your stomach.
And i would drink some water after youre done helps fight off hangover the next day.
Dont mix your first time and dont chug a lug youll be out quick since you're a rookie.
And as far as the guy saying its addictive , its only addictive if you have an addictive personality or if there is a history of it in your family...
Pregame take a half shot of something light like a shnapps to see how you handle it then later on work your way up and after that just chill and take it easy start drinking your beer or mix drinks what ever your poison .. but dont mix bro youll feel it...

Eat a decent sized meal 1-2 hours before you drink heavily. Also, those drinking pills (i.e. anti-oxident vitamins) that come in a packet helps. The main thing is to drink water in-between drinks and you should be alright.

New to drinking? Veterans pace themselves. You can learn a lot from veteran drinkers. Don't do 5 shots in a row. Do no more than 2 shots or drinks within a hour. You will want to drink more when you're buzzin, so pay close attention to how much you drink.

I am a recovering alcoholic with 3 months continious sobriety. I would reccomind to take it WAY EASY on the drinks. I was an alcoholic for a long time, and wish I would have never got into the drink. It's so hard to say though, because I loved it so much. And as to your question.. it really doesnt matter what you drink.. just please be careful and NEVER EVER get behind the wheel after you have been drinking. You could get a DWUI like me and REALLY regret it.

Preperation?? what preperations?? Oh.. you mean what your friends decide to buy you for your first night drinking.. Man you are going to regret it in the morning!

What is pregaming?? Never heard of that term...

For your beer, add some Tabasco to it, makes it taste better.

Eat beforehand! Eat a good, healthy, meal! It will help you! Trust me! Don't drink on an empty stomach! Drink nice and slow... don't rush anything. Set a limit at the beginning of the night... say, "I will have one drink every two hours" or something like that.

Definitely EAT BEFORE YOU DRINK. You should also try to drink a bunch of water once you're done drinking to help you not feel quite as horrible the next day.

Take an aspirin - with milk - before you go out. The aspirin might ward off a headache, while the milk coats your stomach.
Tomato juice goes with beer - add some horseradish, salt and pepper, and garnish with a celery stick.
