Whenever you are given a ticket for some stupid thing like dog licence, grass to high, doing 58 in a 55 always go to court and make the ticket writer come in for their testimony. I got pulled over by a typical "Barny" because he said I went through a light on yellow. He made numerous mistakes in the ticket including weather conditions...in his testimony he said that it wasn't raining...then I asked him to read out loud what he wrote on the ticket...then asked him which time did he lie...today or when he wrote this...I got his little moron head spinning. ALWAYS fight these people..they want $$$$ PERIOD...no matter what they tell you don't believe them. Make them PAY by fighting everything they do, the laws (most) are set up to protect us from these money grabers..if nothing else it will cost them for the time and effort...and then maybe they will get off the people backs$$$

FIGHT, FIGHT...NEVER give up!!!!!!

BTW..I am only speaking of the little petty crimes designed to make $$$$$

Yes, yes, Yes!!!! Keep fighting them. Once the laws were made to protect now its just their money machine.

A study was done to see of alternate methods of using traffic lights would reduce the running of red lights. A rapid yellow was used as a signal that it would change to red in exactly two seconds. It was very effective (something like 70%) over issuing tickets. But most jurisdictions chose instead to install traffic cameras to give automated tickets for light runners. They did this because it gave them a higher source of income, even though the alternate lights created a safer road environment.

That is just wrong.

If you feel you are innocent, sure, fight it. That is your right and that is what the courts are for. I will gladly show up and testify to why I wrote the ticket. I get paid to do so. A problem I have with people who fight everything, even the ones that they are guilty of, knowing they are going to lose, is that they are just costing folks money. Especially themselves. For no good reason other than to be an A S S Court costs on a ticket are often higher if you actually GO to court. It's your and our tax dollars paying that Judge and the clerk, and the cop to be there. You are taking time out of your day, time off from work possibly, to fight a ticket that you know dang well you are guilty of.

Quotas are illegal in most jurisdictions for just this reason - they lead to bogus tickets. However; I will say I do know some cops , and some departments, that feel it is a numbers game - the more the better (promotions, how else does a street cop show he is doing his job???)

Had to teach many a young officer in this little town that we don't really want to make a bunch of $$ of of tickets. When you do have to write one, write it on a city code if you can so the town gets some of the fine. Don't go overboard, town is small enough that everybody has been to a city council meeting at one time or another and EVERYBODY knows where EVERYBODY else lives.

Of my 12 parking tickets (NYC) I fought, 9 were dismissed due to technical errors. I too belive in fighting them at every step. Sure, they'll eventually get some money from us. But, the $180 that paid the three tickets I lost, cost the City a lot more money to prosecute. They had to pay for lawyers, document copies, transcripts, etc.. Most governments are penny-wise, dollar foolish.

Um, well, the better course of action is not to commit petty crimes. Then you don't have to waste all your time in court for something stupid like running a red light. BTW - going through a light on yellow is not illegal. It's when you don't make it before it turns red that is a problem and you may want to consider learning how to drive better. If you had just put all that energy into not driving like crap, well...you get the idea.

Such as taking my wheelchair bound brother out to eat, then getting a ticket written for not having the sticker, even though while the officer wrote the ticket, we were getting my brother out of the chair and into the car... It's one thing if it is a truthful violation, but, sometimes they can go a little too far.

You've made your point but even tho quotas do exist, i 'd have to disagree with you on the judgment's of the courts... if you are involved in any dispute within our legal system., and you believe your case has merit, than id say yes have your day in court,. but for the most part the court system is like any other government agency and tries to do it's best to serve justice, weather in its penalties of fines or any other petty infractions...my personal experience has been where you show you have just cause.
you will get the remedy your case merits. Inclusive of your ability to pay.

You are so funny. I went to court for a ticket but before I left after getting the ticket, I told the police officer that it was not illegal to cross on a yellow light as long as it did not turn red before I crossed. I also told him I was going to appear in court and fight this. He never showed up in court and the case was dismissed. But regarding law suits about every little thing, I can't do that, but I understand what you mean. Go for it. Most of the police officers that do this, are just needing to get their quota of tickets for the day.

But, I love cops, can't help it. Dated a homicide detective and adored him.

you are able to combat something in courtroom, yet that would not inevitably advise that they are going to be sure your declare. while you're in that lots worry, i might provide a decision to a attorneys place of work, or between the huge names. loads of them will answer questions for you over the telephone, free of fee. you additionally can choose to do slightly diagnosis of the regulations on your state and city on entrapment and underage ingesting. extra effective than possibly nevertheless, the police can say that they did comply with this, yet they did no longer be responsive to that there became something unlawful occurring until they entered the premises. Underage ingesting is extremely a confusing undertaking to get out of.

If you think you're getting over on them for contesting a ticket guess again...when an officer appears at court he is getting paid overtime...win or lose it makes no difference ...As paulie in Goodfellas said "f*** you , pay me" .
