I want to quit. And I am going to, just the problem being is the last time I tryied I failed. My problem being is that I am a stay at home mom so I spend all my time at home. I do crafts and play games. But I am still sitting here. Thats where its really hard. I lit up a cigarette and then let it burn out. I dont smoke but half a pack a day really because I let it burn out. My problem when I try and quit is that I want to lit one up. Not smoke it, just lit it up because I am use to it. It's a habit for me. Just to reach over and lit one up and set it down. I dont crave the cigarette its self. Just the urge to lit it up and set it down. Anyone have any ideas on how to brake this?

Try lighting up incense instead. Start with a very mild scent. Also, try to get out of the house a little more.

People associate smoking with things they do. Some people only smoke when they drink, others when they have coffee or when out with their friends.

Change the location and the behavior and it will be easier to quit.

Seems that boredom in the house is your main cause of smoking. Change that by getting out with the kids and it will get easier.

Best of luck.

I know exactly what you are going through. I am a stay at home mom of two babies age 15 months and 28 months. I quit when my last baby was born. The only thing I can tell you is just throw them away. Chew gum or hard candy. Its hard, I haven't smoked in 15 months and I still deal with cravings everyday. For me it was more of a habit than an addiction. I am so happy with the decision I made and so thankful that I am still smoke free. I know my kids will grow up in a healthier environment because of my decision, although I never smoked in our home or around them anyway. Best of luck!!!

Try getting Omega 3 (fish oil) tablets. It is a supplement that is good for your heart, skin and mood. I started it and within 5 days the strangest thing happen...My cigarettes tasted funny and then the cravings stopped. It has been 11 months now. I have recommended this remedy to some of my friends and they have quit also. It was by coincidence but well worth it! I have helped my heart, skin , mild depression and stop smoking. I took 2 capsules 3x a day. Any brand will work. Good luck. You can find it in any health food stores as well as Rite AID or Longs Drugs stores.

SOE PEOPLE WALK AROUND WITH ONE IN HAND OR MOUTH BUT DONT LIGHT IT
FOR SOME PEOPLE IT IS THE VISION OF THE SMOKE IN THE AIR
THERE IS A PRODUCT THAT I FOUND TO WORK GREAT
IT IS A TABLET THAT YOU PUT IN YOUR MOUTH WHEN U CANT STAND IT ANY MORE
THEN GO BACK TO WILL POWER
UNLIKE A PATCH THAT PUMPS NICOTENE INTO YOU 24 / 7 WHICH IS MORE THAN YOU WERE SMOKING ANYWAY
YOU WILL HAVE TO LOOK FOR THE PRODUCT AS I CANNOT REMEMBER THE NAME BUT IT WORKS
YOU ARE ALREADY THERE BECAUSE YOU HAVE DECIDED THAT YOU AR READY TO QUIT

Try and leave small candles around, not too many for sake of children. When you want to lite up, grab a match or liter and do the candle instead. Concentration is paramount when quiting. Thinking it's bad, or it can kill you doesn't help. Look to your kids too. Guilt yourself into slowing down then eventually quiting for them. It's hard I know, i started when I was nine.

Any time you even begin to think about cigarettes or anything to do with cigarettes snap yourself with a rubber band. Put a rubber band on your wrist and put it and snap yourself hard enough that it hurts each time your mind goes back to cigarettes. Your body will do anything to avoid pain. Punishing any thought of cigarettes with immediate pain will quickly cause those thoughts and feelings to go away. It worked for me.

Just think of how hard it would be to drag your oxygen tank with you when your lungs give out. Or, depending on where the lung cancer tumor is, having to feed yourself through a tube directly into your stomach. How about, taking your last labored breaths with your family looking on, your eyes bulging out of their sockets from the suffocation of the invading tumor.
Have a pleasant cig break.

I used the patch to get over the physical addiction and they worked great. You have to break the mental habit part too. First try not smoking in the house. do it. you won't regret it.
