It's true. Domesticated cats have barbs on the end of their penises which ensures once they start to mate, the female can't escape until the male has held the sperm in her.

Spikes no. Barbs, yes. They are very small at the tip of the penis and they do not shoot out they are always there. The barbs stimulate the female to ovulate during mating since the only time female cats ovulate is during mating. They don't really scream. More like yowl. It is the same type of yowling heard when she goes into heat. Sorry don't have a site to give you for reference. You can take my word for it. I have seen the barbs and had to study feline anatomy, physiology and reproduction.

It is true.

The cat is a 'response ovulator', which means they will only ovulate due to a stimulus. This means the cat does not release eggs (ovulate) every month, or menstruate like a dog or human would. It is supposed to be a more efficient method of reproduction.

The barbs scape down the cervix of the female, which does cause them pain (which is why females scream when they're mated), and the stimulus provided by the barbs causes ovulation.

Yes that is very true. When they mate and pull out the spikes rip the female inside which causes her eggs to come down.

In big cats (lions) they cause quite a bit of pain it helps insure the female won't rebreed. It's the males way of populating the world with his offspring

It's true. Have you heard a male and female cats having sex? The cat's screeches are so loud and unpleasant.

I read that they have barbs that cause a stimulating effect that causes the females eggs to drop so they can be fertilized.

That is not true at all. The person that you might have heard it from is a total dork.

It's true; they're referred to as "barbs". But they're not that hard, and they don't cause pain to the female.
