I think that there would be still. People sometimes use religion as an excuse, thinking it gives them the right to be prejudice and judge them. They think because it "says in the Bible that it's wrong," they are allowed to be "grossed out" and make comments.
However, if there were no religion or Bible, I still think people would be homophobic, but be more honest in their reasoning. They wouldn't say "it's wrong," they would say "it's gross" or other lame, derogatory statements. People fear the unknown, people fear change, and they fear people who are different from themselves.
They just use religion as a crutch in most cases.

Yes, there probably would be homophobia. It is in man's nature to hate fear what is different. Religion can be well-meaning, however, it serves as an excellent rallying point for like-minded individuals. There is no difference between Christians and the KKK. It is a an extreme analogy and valid, like-minded people with a common goal and belief. There will be no fear when man stops hating and starts learning. I am not against religion, however, it generally seems to be at the root of the issue.

It is my belief that 'homophobia' will exist as long as homosexuality is perceived as a threat; phobias are fears, religions are I-am-on-my-own-phobia; religion is not integral to homophobia, there have been religions in our common age which did not perceive homosexuality as threat. It is a people thing.
Homosexuality is not necessarily a threat to the perpetuation of the species...mankind appears to be on still another long-term self destruct and ever increasing numbers (too may of them), is a root component...if mankind wanted mankind to exist indefinitely, mankind would adopt what ever practices would facilitate this goal...however, humankind is no where close to being that altruistic, it is the individual's desire to hold himself in high esteem that is threatened not the greater good or the continuation of the species.
In my opinion.

Yes. Homophobia is a form of fear-based hate (actually, all hate is pretty much based on fear, but you get my point). Religion is not intended to outlaw or abolish hate, but to (hopefully) point people in the path of inner light and peace. Hate exists outside of this process, and would exist regardless.

Sadly, I think homophobia would still exist. I believe it is caused by the insecurities of the hater and the religion simply helps them justify it.
People do not become homophobes from reading the scriptures... in fact I believe the scriptures condemn homosexuality because the scriptures were written by homophobes.

I am not homophobic because i am do not have a fear of gays. It is a theoretical question so i would say if i was theoretically still around then there may well still be homophobia because it will always be perverse and contrary to the law of nature.

Yes. Generally speaking people are hateful. Racism, sexism, homophobia, these things didn't come about because of religion. These things came about because people with low self esteem need to berate others to feel better about themselves.

I think yes, there would be. Humans always notice the differences between them, and some will hate and fear the different. If the homosexual population became the same as the hetero, and remained that way for a long time, it might possibly go away. But I doubt it. People like to divide themselves.

Yes. Because no matter how you cut it, sticking your you know what in a dookey hole is nasty.
**EDIT** Since people seem to not like my answer lets be clear, I am not a homophobe. My opinion is that gay sex is nasty, my gay friends have told me they find hetero sex nasty. That doesn't make them "heterophobes". It's called "honesty" and it's the first step towards "tollerance".
So everyone who gave me a thumbs down for being honest, get a life. The world isn't perfect and everyone isn't going to like everything about each other. People shouldn't have to hide their opinions on a matter like this just because you PC-Nazi's oppose any opinion that doesn't mirror your own. A person can think gay sex is gross without hating gay people. Just like someone can think seafood is nasty without hating people who eat it. Use your own brains and quit being such knee-jerk jerks.
tangerine, you're right, straight people do anal too. And it's just as nasty, in my opinion. Their right to do what they please though. Ain't my booty. **EDIT**

Maybe what you describe as homophobia is every bit as genetic as homosexuality is. What then, if it's not a choice?
I object to gay-bashing but I also object to religion-bashing.
