I am sad to say that i am getting disheartened by the stupidity and brain deadity of a lot of contributors on Yahoo Answers. Whilst it is easy to spot a question that is not worth giving a nanosecond's input to for whatever reason. People post their questions in the wrong sections, -some people are just total arses and spout off with no regard for building up rather than tearing down. People attack each other and their beliefs. It is right and wrong , black and white , your wrong and i'm right. Now i have a sense of humour and like a good laugh but i find less and less of the content entertaining.
I think we should be making an effort to get the bad apples out . I am all for the freedom to say whatever we want. and to express our individual views. Ami expecting too much ? Is this site mobbed by ignorant teenagers who do not know any better ? am i wrong ? What do you think ?

Some people answer a question with a question.

But you are different.

You ask a question with an answer.

I'm impressed.

Better that people verbally attack each other and their beliefs on this forum than with bullets, machetes and intimidation. This forum can be a vent for people to sound-off their frustrations, plus show them better attitudes and even solutions via other responses. But how can you say you're all for freedom of expression when, in the previous breath, you've demanded 'the bad apples' get turfed out? Your idea of a bad apple might be someone else's idea of a juicy bite (or a hugely funny tongue-in-cheek riposte).

You also didn't like people tearing down rather than building up. Don't you know that some ideas (which is what we're dealing with on this page) are so fundamentally flawed that they HAVE to be knocked down in order to show how bad their foundations are? Then a new, better idea can be built up on a solid foundation. If a building can be condemned as unsound, so can an idea. If I'm talking rot I need not be surprised at someone sticking a "Wood-worm" warning over my mouth. If I'm speaking the truth, then no matter how lovingly I try to express it, those who don't want the truth will complain about me. Do I keep quite just for the sake of peace? Nope!

Which reminds me of Spadesbof... who thinks the minute JWs or Mormons are mentioned, so-called Christians insult, insinuate and spread deception about them. Spadesbof clearly hasn't seen JW articles that call all the clergy in the world (apart from their own) as like "burst-open figs that cannot be eaten for badness," and spiritual drunks. Now who's being insulting? And, as for spreading deception, check out a recent question in this section on JW scholarship. I'm not going to begin to mention Mormon tactics. Just remember, what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. It's always the same; people who love to criticise others can't take any criticism of themselves. They yell, "Foul! Abuse! Lies!" instead of checking out the evidence offered, then mildly exposing it as false (if it is). Trying to silence criticism is the first resort of those who have something to hide.

Long live this Religion and Spirituality section (numpties included)!

I agree with you that this section has become quite disheartening. I used to visit daily, looking for interesting questions where I could learn from other people's answers or share what I know and hopefully teach someone else. Lately I've grown tired of trudging through questions that are off topic, insulting, or asked in order to start a fight. (And then there are all the answers that are insulting or just completely untrue, but that's a whole other side to this coin.) YA doesn't seem to be very interested in helping keep this forum on topic, either.

Sad to say, I barely bother to look here more than once a week anymore.

You're right to an extent. But it is also a good place for teenagers to get a robust view from differing perspectives, even from their own genre. I have a sense of humor too and sometimes I like to get a few jabs and kicks in when I see nonsensical questions. But every question is motivated by a deeper yearning to answer something that is otherwise mysterious to them in their lives, yet dont know how to express it, so they formulate stupid questions and review the answers. Notice that you wont get stupid answers from posts that ask, "What is the direction of the Existentialist in the 21st century, whilst explaining the advent of science on theological beliefs".

I agree with you completely. I think that there should be a category for stupid questions like the ones from the Retard and then people who want to waste their time reading them can go there. I think that there should also be some basic rules about respect, respecting each others rights, each others religions and that people who do not show respect should get more than a point penalty. It seems to be open season on some religions and religious figures here. Then people wonder why others are angry, when you are insulting a Prophet of someone Else's religion they have a right to be angry. We are all here to learn from one another and try to help each other, express our opinions and listen to the opinions of others.

I ignore the ones who aren't really looking for an answer, but just trying to get a reaction. Well, 99% of the time I do! I try to simply honestly answer honestly asked questions. I have a personal rule not to attack other faiths, it's not part of my faith to do so. I once complained quite heavily to Yahoo! about the content of some of the questions and things got a bit better after that, not sure if it was my email or a general cleaning up that helped.....just come on here with the knowledge that a lot of people aren't here with the same good intentions as yourself, and filter them out.

Friend, I know what you mean, Yes there are many questions on this site that atheists, Agnostics, Make-believers, Unbelievers, & Muslim post that are not worth answering, Myself, I am not on here for points , I care less about points, I happen to stumble on this site while I was on Health site, I have been on this site now for 4 months, My only desire is to help someone that Truly wants help, & yes as far as questions is concern they try to agitate the TRUE CHRISTIANS, In 4 months I only posted 14 questions & some of them was for health. Yet when I do answer a question I answer it with a honest heart & a stern Believe in THE ONE TRUE GOD, THE CREATOR OF ALL THINGS, THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, ISAACC, & JACOB, THE GOD OF ISRAEL. In that I shall not Be MOVED.

I am still holding on to a little hope but looks like those few bad apples must be spreading the stupidity and intolerance virus. You know it is becoming an epidemic when the only responses that get chosen as best answer are those that include profanity or some smart astric comment toward others.

It's hardly just the religion section that has these problems. I go to other areas too and find just as much stupidity there. The bottom line is that people can say what they want here with no repercussions, so they do. Getting all huffy about it isn't going to change a thing.

I'm with you. However, you'll never rid this site (or this section) of the people you would want to. It does get cluttered at times with people who are just ridiculus and hateful. There are people that I have been contacted by on the side and we have discussed our difference of opinion. I don't mind that at all. But then there are people (like Jibba Jabba) who are bent on their hateful intentions. There is such thing as healthy opposition, though it is difficult at times to find it here. I've probably been insensitive at times, but I know that is not the norm for me. There are some questions or responses that do require a defense. But I do try to be truthful, not hateful.

Everyone these days is too easily offended! People all have different views and beliefs.Someone will ALWAYS disagree with you and you need to expect it and not get in a rage about it.But,some people personally attack just because they don't agree...thats where it's wrong.
