I think you are thinking of the 7 wonders of the ancient world of which only the Great Pyramid still exist. The 7 wonders of the world include the Taj Mahal in India, the Pyramids at Giza, The Great Wall of China, the Eiffel Tower in France, The leaning Tower of Pisa, the Statue of Liberty and The hanging Gardens of Babylon. To be honest I am not sure why the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower are included but that is the list that I found. And as for your statement about religion stopping mankind from creating works that astound and become symbols for humanity, what about the Sistine Chapel? What about the mosque in Mecca where millions of Muslims go every year for pilgrimage?
And the Pyramids and the lighthouse in Alexandria are in a Muslim country as were the Hanging Gardens which were in what is not Iraq. Both of these are Muslim country's.

God gives good gifts to ALL men NOT just those He chose as His own :)
>what is it about the big three religions that has stopped the human from creating works that astound and become symbols for humanity?<
What are you on about? Michaelangelo was a religious man - so was Leonardo Di Vinci, then there was Sir Christopher Wren who designed St Paul's Cathedral in London, Look at all the other Cathedrals in Britain - wonderful feats of architecture! The man who invented the scan (for pregnant women) was a Christian, Look at Islamic architecture, the temple at Jerusalem (before Titus in AD70 burnt it) was supposed to be one of the finest buildings in the world!
Now Christianity has little or no effect on the UK the art and music is like trash for most part! Look at renaissance art - this flourished during the time of the Reformation!

It has nothing to do with the big three religions stopping the creation of works that astound and become symbols for humanity. The Original 7 wonders were a list of phenomenon compiled in antiquity. The first reference to the idea is found in History of Herodotus as long ago as the 5th century BC. It's not just the 3 major faiths who've been left off lists, what about ancient cities found in Africa, Asia and South America?

What about the Taj Mahal? It was built in 1628-1658, yes it took 30 years to build.
Salomon was a King and scientist.
Noah was a ship builder, 300 cubits (18 inches to a cubit) is 5400 ft. long, 50 cubits wide, that is 900 ft. wide, and 30 cubits high is 540 ft.. 5400 x 900 x 540! That is one big ship. Noah was the priest of God at the time of the flood. The head of the house hold is the priest of the family. It is not 'religion' that keeps us back, it is the intolerance, and ignorance, of the leaders. So stop blaming God for what man does.
What about Babylon? The tower of Babel? Nimrod, the first king of Assyria, was the builder of the 13 major city's of Babylon and the tower. These were built right after the flood, by very wicked people, they worshiped their king Nimrod, and his queen, Semiramis (The Queen of Heaven, sound familiar?), and later her son Tammuz. His birthday is Dec 25!
Salomon built a wonder of the world, the Temple of God was the most fabulous building of all time. Wicked men do not get all of the glory.

I don't think it's stopped mankind. I think it's just been refocused on different things.
The temples that you speak of were tombs. The Great Wall was to keep out invaders.
There is a longstanding myth that the Great Wall of China is the only manmade object visible from space. It and several variations on the theme are great fodder for water cooler arguments. In reality, many human constructs can be seen from Earth orbit.
Shuttle astronauts can see highways, airports, dams and and even large vehicles from an Earth orbit that is about 135 miles (217 kilometers) high. Cities are clearly distinct from surrounding countryside, and that's true even from the higher perch of the International Space Station, which circles the planet at about 250 miles (400 kilometers) up.

The 7 wonders were compiled by the Greeks in the 5th century BC.
Monotheism didn't have any significance till Christianity was imposed on the Roman Empire about 800 years later.

Good question. But the Egyptians built mausoleums. Which were tied into their religion and worship of the gods of the afterlife. The pyramids of the Mayans were religious temples. Many of the Greek and Roman buildings were temples to gods. Stonehenge is linked to druidic religion. Religion had it's role in most of the ancient megaliths and buildings.

Because they are only ancient wonders of the world. There are other, as great/greater achievements you miss:
Travel to the moon?
Ability to communicate instanteously around the world?
Abilty to decode Human DNA?
For their era, the achievements cited by you are great. But they are not the only works that astound humanity.

All religions will probably claim that they've always been in power, since they were responsible for creating the world. They were just a bit late sending their messengers down, and claiming the world for themselves.
