No thanks.... there are already too many books promoting cultural bigotry in this world... I see no need for one more.

There is absolutely NO need to rewrite the bible. If you are having a problem reading it or interpreting it or understanding it, that is due to your relationship with God. Countless preachers, teachers, and regular christians read, understand and comprehend the bible and it continues to be as applicable in our lives as it was 1000 years ago and beyond. Genesis is a perfect account of creation and fits the scientific model exactly. Why rewrite what is already perfect (in essence)? Granted, the bible wasn't written at a 5th grade level like most books and newsapers nowadays. But they have every different form of interpretation you can imagine. They even have a picture bible your 3 year old can comprehend. So.......

If a new bible were to be written, it would be almost an exact copy of all the others. I mean, come on. Look how many versions there are out there claiming to be "new" and "updated" but still saying the same thing, but just changing up words to suit the needs of the people writing it.
And the modern man's interpretation would be the same as it was years ago because as a whole, we're not taught that thinking for ourselves is an option. So we tend to believe the interpretations we've been fed. Well, not me. lol. But when I say, "we," I mean everyone.
So the bible's been around for I don't know how long and theres major controversies. Thats why I love Documentaries disputing it. I don't buy into anything the bible says. It's just like the tabloids, except in those days, they didn't have science and reason, so religious conviction was the only way to explain things. Then as the stories got passed to more and more people and cultures, it got more and more extreme. Like the Noah's Ark thing.
So nope, no changing. I think the time has come for people to start thinking for themselves instead of relying on a book. It's like writing a journal or something because you're unable to verbally express yourself because of the times and someone digging it up years later with other journals and making a religion from it.
Hm...maybe I should start writing. lol.
But the religious movement needs to die. It's sad and it hurts people. Even with a new and improved bible, it would still mean that people are unable to think for themsevles, which is dangerous.
I'm not one that doesn't question things. Hell, I even question my doctors. I do my own research. And even then I see things that they neglected to tell me that would have been benefitial to be. lol.
so..new bible. bad idea. that really won't help humanity grow. moral reasoning wouldn't be internal. and if everyone kept relying on text, then they'd never pass Stage 4 of Kohlberg's Moral Reasoning. Which I party agree with. Go check it out.
So like I said. Bible. Bad Idea.
Philosophical discussion. Much better. There, a book won't be telling them what to believe.
I was raised on it. Chrisianity, Bibles. My mother even held a prayer meeting group thingie at the house. By the time I hit 13 or 14, I thought the concept was so hilarious. I stopped going to church because my parents wasn't able to stop my little laughs and snickers whenever I heard something absurd. lol.
I do remember my first Bible, though. It was little and red. So very cute. Actually, it was the bible stories that are told to children. Kind of how the military has those commercials that talk of all the benefits and opportunities of joining. It makes it sound alike a real sweet deal on the outside, but when you're in and they start the intense brainwashing and stuff, you can't get out of it so easily.
Religion's like that. The appealing uplifting bible stories for children does the same thing. So when you're fed that since birthk it'll be hard go away from that, unless you're strong enough as an independent thinker. If not, you're stuck for life. I stil have a bible or 2 around here. Whenever I hear about a verse or something, I go check it out, just for accuracy. But not everything in it's bad. I mean, aside from the supreme being telling a guy to burn his infant son to death and then "saving" the kid when the guy tries, In Proverbs, there are some nice common sense quotes that you find in almost any Philosophical source. Worded differently, of course.
But a new bible would set mental evolution back and we'll really really be screwed. Without progress, we'll die out. The dinosours lived millions of years. Humans are supposed to be smarter. I doubt we'll reach that much at this rate.
We can progress, though, if all the obstacles and hinderances were removed. The same ones that prevent poeple from growing.
More discussion, less religious text. Doesn't that sound more appealing?
(Sorry, this was supposed to be shorter, but it turned into a rant. lol. I have ADD. One of the better parts. I just keep going and going without realizing it. lol. Oh, well.) I wonder if I should do the spell check thing...naw. I don't think I made too much mistakes. I'm much too meticulous for that. Most of the times, that is.

Absolutely not! We are in no position to change the bible. In fact, Revelations, if you've ever read it, states very clearly that anyone who changes that scripture in anyway will suffer all of the tragedies listed within. We may not know for sure if Heaven and Hell are real or not, but my faith in God and his holy word does not afford me to test Him. That's why it's called faith.
Also, another issue with your suggestion is that every religion within Christianity interprets the bible differently, which is the reason for those different faiths. And, many don't know this, even the Muslims consider the Bible a holy book, one of four. They also interpret it differently. Even if it was a good idea to change God's word to reflect man's interpretations, which I believe it most certainly is not, we could never get everyone to agree on one interpretation.

What is wrong with Genesis, & Revelations, I understand it perfectly, Revelations is a LOVE LETTER TO THE BRIDE OF CHRIST ONLY, the religious world will NEVER understand it, But a True Born again Christian that has The HOLY GHOST, will undertsand it perfectly, & as far as man trying to re-write the Bible, Man will never change God's plan, His word has stand the test of times. Genesis is the History of the GENES.

Yay Jibba I have been searching for you all day, it;s not the same unless your here. Now to answer your question I think that no book is going to give you the experience with words what it means to believe. When I hear atheists talk it is more so to love mankind, using their own abilities, and perception. Whereas religious believers feel that only through god can they love mankind. Sometimes I think that atheists and christians fight over the same concepts, but do wish to say it is the same.
If you gave the people another bible, it would be the same. The atheists would say it is written by man, and the Christians would say their is only one book to believe in. THe simple fact remains beliefs can only be formed on experiences, otherwise it holds no validity. And I loved the fight club statement, that was so right on the money.
I wish you well

The Bible is the inspired word of God! To think that "someone" can write another one is ignorant. And for your information . . . Revelation is a picture of what is going to happen in the future, so yea, I'd say it's applicable! Also Revelation was a dream, an "allegory" a picture of the future when Christ comes back for His people, and what happens to who remains . . . I'd read Revelation, really think about what it means, and be afraid if you don't know where you're going when you die!

Please no. which modern man or group of modern men are qualified to provide the interpretation. We are already seeing the word of god being watered down and diluted to suit the needs of homosexuals, both in the pulpit and the congregations. What is condemned in the bible is becoming accepted. A modern review would see god's standards abolished. Never may this happen !!

Why would anybody want a "bible" with mans interpretations in it.
The Bible we have is Gods word written by man. The problem is too many people don't understand what the Bible really is.
God loves you and so do I

As we approach a time of higher education, acceptance, and scientific discovery...we are in essence already re-writing the bible....more people are realizing that the bible although a good moral guideline...also posses many small minded, chauvinistic & un-educated ideologies that the era of that time needed to explain the unexplainable, due to the lack of scientific knowledge. As humans evolve scientifically we have come to understand the value of such things as medical advancements, rather then looking to the bible to heal our bodies. Within the next several generations we will continue to appreciate the moral guidance the bible gives us, but will even moreso lean towards our expansion of scientific knowledge to explain the questions of life.

Absolutely not! If the bible was rewritten it would just be more ridiculous interpretations by people that are extremist religeous nutjobs. Just like the other bibles, filled with untruths and ficticious inane ramblings of deranged human beings.
