For the last four days, my son has been puking after lunch. Even after a few bites today. He has not done this at breakfast, or with his snacks or dinner. He is not acting sick by any means, and doesn't puke alot. I thought it would be simple if it was the same food but Monday it was a Ham Sandwich, Tues. Chicken Noodle Soup, Wednesday Spaghetti...you can see its a variety. I wonder if he his doing this for attention from the babysitter ? Do you think that is possible ? Why else would this start all of a sudden? He doesn't have any allergies, hes not acting sick, no temperature...he's running around playing afterward. Any suggestions? Should I take him to a doctor ?

Hi, I am sorry to hear about your little boy having problems.
My daughter went through something similar. We had a lot going on, she had lost her dad.
She only thew up at school. I had her in counseling and they said it was her nerves and her feeling of insecurity.
I would say it lasted about 3 months. It is very scary and very sad. But after adjusting to a new environment she finally feels more secure.
If your son is new to the baby-sitters, this could definitely be why he's doing it.
With all that said. I assure you, it's merely a phase that should pass quickly.

He needs more than three meals per day. More like 5. You can make his snacks more filling. Try giving him a mix of lower and higher calorie foods at eat each meal as well. Maybe his food needs are not being met by the meals he is being given. But he needs to stop constantly snacking. That's part of learning how to eat properly - being able to go a couple of hours without eating. Otherwise it will affect his ability to have healthy eating habits in childhood and probably adulthood. If he is wanting snacks all the time, as well as having 4 or 5 full meals (with sufficient amounts of higher calorie foods) then either he has developed a habit/dependency on food or he needs to be seen by a doctor.

Could very well be a cry for attention. 2 year olds are smarter than we give them credit for. I would take him to a doctor just for peace of mind, then if all is well, see what, if anything, changed with the sitter that would have him acting this way.

Here's my take on that - My son (who is now 3) did the same thing. He wanted attention. I discovered one day he was putting his finger down his throat and gagging himself. Don't chalk it up to an eating disorder! In our case he was discovering his body, and thought that the gag reflex was real neat. He is most likely doing it for the babysitter because she hasn't discovered it yet. However every kid is different - and it could be something different all together.
Best wishes :)

Is the sitter the one reporting this to you? Are you seeing the throwing up for yourself? This does sound a bit off, I'd see if he does it w/ you at lunch, or set up a cam so you can see what's she's talking about. What she calls throw up might be a bit of gagging because he's not chewing his food well or whatnot. Good luck!

Some kids can make themselves vomit. I had a friend who could do it on command. Maybe he just isn't really that hungry at that time. Try pushing lunch back an hour and see what happens. Good luck.

Has he seen this behavior from someone else? Children usually don't know how to throw up. I had a daughter that had a horrible virus that made you vomit for 4 hours straight and she would try to hold it in.
She didn't have a clue as to how to throw up.

I think you should take him to the doctor. To me that sounds a little scary and maybe he is doing it for attention.
