...which was working fine until it decided that it didn't want to play .mpg or .mpeg files anymore. I've checked the settings and they say that I should be able to play them. I then decided to download the old version but it wouldn't let me - saying that I had the newer version and I should be bloody grateful. Please help!!!!

I had a problem with mine too, it was something to do with codecs. I downloaded them but to no avail, it still annoys me LOL

If you're getting sound, but no picture, then I'd recommend the klite codec pack as an additional install. It's free and comes with tons of codecs required to play video files. Try http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm

If for some reason that's not the problem, go with the free divx player at: www.divx.com It plays most files...

Why not just download Media Player 11? That should "fix" the problem.

Oooh yeah ive got 10, i had a similar problem, think i downloaded some type of video driver for it.

down load media player 11 it playes most formats
