the ship has at leat 2 expantion joints where the metal is allowed to expand and contract . also by filling tanks with water to even out the keal. so she rides better

If they're anything like oil tankers, the ships are relatively flexible to withstand rough surf in storm conditions.

not all that well, they loose containers all the time and they bocome hazzards to other ships
