Larger/Giant breeds tend to have shorter life spans. Great Danes average 8-10 yrs, but my uncle has one that's 12. Medium sized dogs average 12-16 yrs, depending on the breed. Smaller breeds can live up to 20 years in some cases.

All in all, the lifestyle of the pet is a factor too. If your dog is eating properly and getting enuf excercise, she will be overall more healthy and could very easily out live the "estimates" on what ever breed or mix she is.

Depends on what kind of dog she is, and if she has any health issues at this time. A smaller breed dog usually lives longer than a larger breed. Average age for a small breed, around 15 years. For a large breed, 10-12. There are always exceptions to every rule. I have heard of large breeds living about 20 years.

It depends on what type of dog it is however, an average life span for a dog is about between 12 and 15 years of age

Cross-breeds, or mongrels, tend to live a bit longer - the average age is 16 or 17. Pedigree dogs live on average until they are 15. Much depends on the individual animal, and how they are looked after. Some dogs live until their 20's.

it really depends on the breed/size. i had a belgium shepard, she lived till 16 and thats only because we had to put her down cause she couldnt walk. mentally she was still really good and if her body could have handled it i'm sure she would have lived at least 3 more years. i now have a springer spaniel, and she's 15. she has some kidney problems, but so long as she takes her meds every day and we stay light on the protien intake she's good to go. she hasnt changed much since she was a pup and she'll be around a while longer. my bf had a huskey/lab who they had to put down at about 12 because it had cancer. its different for every dog tho, just like people.

Small dogs with good diet = up to 20 years
Large dogs with good diet = up to 16 years
Bad diet small dog = 9-11 years
Bad diet large dog = 6-8 maybe 10 years at best

The bigger the dog, the shorter the lifespan. A giant breed usually lives about 9 or 10 years. My cocker spaniels generally have lived 13 years. Keep her active and she'll live longer.

Depends on the bred of the dog to be honest your best bet is to check the site below for your bred. It shows estimates, if its not a purebreed then look at the crosses that are around the same size.

You have to also take into consideration activity level of the dog, its diet and its surroundings

for a west highland terrier the average lifespan is about 12-13 years. small dogs live longer than larger dogs. A larger dog would have a shorter expected lifespan and a smaller dog would have a longer expected lifespan. If you take good care of your pet you can expect them to live past their average lifespan.
