They are called martyrs

The people who were killed by the "religious leaders" were the ones ACTUALLY following God's Word.

The number must be in millions ! ?

But the real threat is that due to the possibility of access to modern weaponary by the religious maniacs, many more innocent people may die in near future. This issue is of critical importance and should be taken care of.

I think that united nations should examine the liberty given to all human beings with regard to preaching of religions. Preaching of religions should strictly be banned by all the nations. This may bring some relief to suffering humanity.

Depends upon what you understand in the difference between "murder" and "kill".

God's commandment says to not "murder"; He does not deny us to "kill". Combat is killing. Plotting to take another specific person's life is murder. There is a difference.

When the Church was the primary source of employment and power (1300's to 1800's), members of the Church committed murder many times under the guise of doing it for "God", but the underlying reasons were personal and to promote the power and wealth of the Church.

So, understand first what God is directing and understand that people, who are weak and prideful by nature, will do things and use God as an excuse for poor decisions. Bottom line is that we all are independently judged by God for acts that we do against our fellow man.

Entirely too many. Lessee... The Burning Times (despite what Slaver Ravingwolf claims) was about 40,000 - 100,000... Spanish Inquisition was tens of thousands... Then you have the Crusades...

I'd say, at VERY least, a good million people. And most in the name of Christianity. :) Go figure.

More then we can count. More then I would want to count.

I'm not religious, let's get that out the way first. And I'm not a fan of many of the worlds more popular religions. But let's be real, religion doesn't kill people. People kill people.

There will be many more in the future. But the real question is who will be in eternal fire and who will be in heaven. So people die....and? They will all rise up again and be judged. You need to look beyond the "Me" point of view. What so great and significant about human? Nothing. The only reason we are "precious" is because God took pity on us.

How many humans have commited murder at God's command in the last 2000yrs?................ 0

murder is against God's will.

God's name is used by many for many evil purposes... that dose not mean that God approved the use of His name or approved of the act done in His name
