You might think of getting them a joint gift. Something for their home with a little more of a personal touch would be a good idea. Maybe a framed wedding print with their names and their wedding date. If you want to do something individual then, get your friend something you know she'll like and then call her up and ask her what his tastes are. People would much rather you ask what they want or like than get a gift they will never use! Hope this helps!

It can only be as meaningful for her, because you don't have a relationship with him, he probably won't get a heartfelt gift and the meaning behind it.
Why not get her something for her bridal shower that is meaningful and then give them cash for the wedding.
Picture frames/albums that are engraved are nice and have meaning. Without knowing your history with your friend, that is about the best that I can come up with.

The gift I suggest may not be meaningful to many but it was to me and my groom. My maid of honour made my husband and I a hope chest and filled it up withup with things we needed for our home. Like toilet paper, and ashtray and toothpicks(my groom quit smoking the year before we got married, but instead of smoking adopted the habit of chewing toothpicks and placing them in an ashtray - its better than smoking), pregancy test and ovulation monitor - all gag gifts....then at the wedding she presented us with a collaguze of childhood pictures of me, her, our friends and family and in one corner had a picture of me and my groom together and had a small inscription that says (I love you, and I am honoured to be giving away by best friend to her new best friend). All that was more than I would have ever needed from her, but then she surprised us in our wedding card with a 500 dollar monetary gift for me to book a cabin for the two of us to spend at least one girls weekend away together for old time sake...Best gift in the world...and it was done with pure love.

Doesn't she have a bridal registry Buy her something off of that. If not money and gift cards come in handy. A gift card to the grocery really comes in handy if they are just moving into a place together. That first grocery bill is a dusy.

Whatever you do, do NOT get Sears gift cards. I got some for my wedding and it has been a hastle from hell with that company. (you need a credit card to order from their website/catolog, even if you are using gift cards....they debit your credit card and then credit. If you dont have a credit card you have to pay a charge for COD.) The Sears store here is just a pick up location is why it has been harder for us.
Anyways.....ask if she has a registry anywhere. Keep in mind the gift is for BOTH of them. Things like towels, bath items in a basket are always nice, Another nice one is a pic-nic basket with a bottle of wine. (you can get ones that are stocked already with plates and cutlery and glasses)

Im sure theyre registered somewhere. Or make a memory box for her. Put in pictures of you two over the years, ticket stubs, whatever you might have that she will laugh at and remember 'the good old days' with .

I got my friend a set of Tiffany tea light candle holders with candles and both her husband & her adored the gift. It was a keepsake they both use use and enjoy and something that they can keep for a long time.

The only answer is MONEY!! It will help them much more than anything as they are probably just starting off in life together and have many bills (including the wedding) to pay.
