Hi concern grandma :-) have her call the doctor they will probably tell her that is normal...the reason I tell you to call is just to have it documented that she did gave them a call...now if is only pressure it probably means the baby is getting ready for labor.. okay but if she feels discharge of any kind or pains that come and go (like trying to go to the bathroom #2) those are contractions...but in any case when in doubt don't hesitate and call or go to the emergency room.
Good luck and best wishes with the new bundle of Joy!! God Bless

At around 37-38 weeks a woman typically experiences "lightening" where the baby's head drops down into the pelvis in preparation for birth. An ultrasound done by the doctor should determine which position the baby is in.

Sounds like the baby is dropping down and putting more pressure on her cervix.

She can make herself more comfortable by doing pelvic rocking.

You don't need an u/s to determine fetal position. A skilled caregiver can figure it out by feeling mom's belly.

It probably means that her baby has dropped. Meaning it has gone into the head down position and has engaged its head in her pelvis waiting for delivery. Doesn't mean she will have it right away. Just means your one step closer to a vaginal birth. Good luck and congrats.

Have her call her doctor, she should probably go in. She might be in labor, But I am not a doctor. the pressure could be her dilating or water about to break. I have heard it can feel like a lot of pressure until it breaks.

Always when in doubt (or pain) call the doctor.
