there's no chance of her getting pregnant. When she comes in heat is not really anoying. She's always calm and lovely.
Why should I spay her?

thanks,
jejeje
I'm not worried about the male dogs, they are afraid of her.
for some reason she hates the neighbors' dogs'.
she always scares the hell out of a big 80 lbs german shepherd. I'm not afraid of big dogs, they are afraid of me too.
She is nice with people, I'm only afraid of her being robbed.
we have a residence protected with security alarm and an iron fence, and I always take her out with a leach and a big stick.

No dog could jump a 15 feet iron fence, protected with security 24 hours.

Unless you are going to use her for breeding you should spay her. There are many health benefits from doing it. She is far less likely to develop mammary tumors. Also if not spayed she could end up with a pyometra which is an extremely nasty womb infection which would result in her having to be spayed anyway or possibly even dying if not caught quickly enough.

It's a dominance thing. Also if the dog has learned that behavior pre-spay it isn't a fool proof. Just like male dogs can still mark territory and hump after neuter.

You should spay her so you'll have her for longer. Spayed females are much, much less likely to get cancer. And by the way, a female in heat, when she's ready to be bred, is anything but calm and lovely.

Do you plan to breed her? If your answer is no, here are some reasons to spay.

It reduces your dog's risk of some cancers.
You will never have to worry about being a backyard breeder.
You won't have to keep track of when she might go into heat.
If you have to go away, you can leave her in the care of others and not worry about her interaction with another male dog.

Spayed dogs have a longer lifespan and they are more mellow in their behaviour. Plus there's always the chance that your dog can escape, or something can happen in a second when you're not watching. It's safer to have her spayed.

Because if you don't want her to have any puppies then it is the responsible thing to do as a pet owner. There are many people who "watch their dogs" only to find out later that some dog jumped their fence while they went briefly inside and got a glass of water. These dogs become pregnant and the unwanted puppies are dumped at the pound.
There is always a possibility that a male dog will get in your yard and get your female dog pregnant. Are you willing to take care of the pups or find good homes for them? If not, then have her spayed.

I would recommend it!

I did not spay my dog initially because I had intentions of breeding her. I later decided that I wasn't going to breed her and decided not to spay because of circumstances similiar to yours.

As the result of not spaying, I lost my beloved Sable at the age of 10 to Breast Cancer.

Not only did I cheat her out of a longer life but I am left to deal with the greatest loss I have ever known. If I could go back in time (don't we all wish that at some time or another), I would have spayed her immediately when I decided that I was not going to breed her.

With the unconditional love that a dog provides, why take the chance on cutting their life short. There is no greater love than that of a dog.

Because if she does get in contact with another dog while in heat then you are stuck with puppies. WE have a huge overpopulation of dogs in animal shelters across the united states. Each day, thousands of dogs are put to sleep because of dogs that werent spayed or neutered. You never know if she accidentally gets away or sneaks out. Dogs find there ways. Maybe not your dog but it CAN happen. When they are in heat they are very sneaky so be careful. Its not that expensive and its healthier for the dog anyway. Why not do it?

There's alot of health issues that can arise in dogs not spayed, such as cancer of the cervix for one. Your dog won't deal with horomones either.

Also, if an accident of your dog getting out of your home loose (you never know if a visitor might do it on accident), you won't ever have to worry about an unwanted litter to find appropriate homes for.

If you're not planning to breed her, it's a good idea to spay her. It saves you from any accidental puppies. Furthermore, it will be less stressful for you when you take her out. There won't be any males giving you a problem trying to get to her.
