The Bible teaches that the only way to escape the need to sin is by God's grace. To prove this point I challenge all non-Christians to respond without hate

I did not intend to be offensive myself, please forgive me. However, before I became a Christian (10 years ago) I WAS A SLAVE to many sinful habits. I did not mean to insult anyone but since joining these discussions I have noticed a lot of hate between people of diverse faiths and I was quirious to see positive responses.

well, the problem w/ the wording of this question is that it

1) insinuates that "sin" and "Godly righteousness" is important to the people responding..... if they are not Christians, they will not feel the need to acknowledge what Your idea of sin and gods are, just as you are not acknowledging Their ideas of sin and gods

2) the words "Slave" and "Sin" are negative, and therefore you are already somewhat insulting those who don't believe in, or are not familiar with, God's Grace. =T and so, instead of being "open minded" as you'd hope, ur actually reinforcing the reason why Non Christians don't WANT to convert, because they feel "judged" by those who are Christians.

now, having said that, i Am a Christian, and i do believe that we are slaves to sin IF we do not accept God's Grace. however, the only way i was able to see that was to reflect on My life, My actions, as a Human being: constantly trying to follow Rules and Regulations, whether it be at home, in religion, or even day to day (speed limit anyone???), humans tend to push the boundaries, try not to get caught, or try to follow the rules but sometimes mess up, make mistakes.

the whole point of Romans 5-8 is that Jesus is saying "Hey, it's Ok. I died on the cross for all Your sins, Past, Present and Future. You don't have to punish yourself anymore". THIS is to FREE you from going thru the cycles of day to day struggles of feeling guilty, sad, hurt, disappointed, in yourself and others for mistakes, sins, that u have made or will make. the next step, however, after accepting God's Grace, is to REJOICE in His sacrifice and live your life the best you can. this actually FREES you to follow the Rules and Regulations of your OWN accord... not because others are watching, or because parents "tell you too". it is a quiet, individual decision to "do the right thing" because you Feel and Know it is right, not because ur trying to please others. that is the difference. and that is the Freedom they are speaking of, being free from the bondage of Punishment, being "slaves to sin". but it is a much deeper understanding, and u can't go into it unless you delve into your own life, and your own actions.

who here has not made a mistake? who here has not felt guilty about it? who here has felt miserable, awkward, depressed, lonely, stupid? the whole point is NOT to become a "slave" to that negativity.. it is to free yourself to Learn from ur mistakes, and keep trying over and over again to do the "right" thing... not cuz u should, but cuz u Want to. good luck, i hope all of us reach some sort of individual understanding of what life means to us, and how important we are individually as well as together. good luck to us all! :)

Without the Christ consciousness you are a slave to sin in that you identify with the mortal self.

What I'm saying here is that just because you may accepted Jesus as your personal savior does not free you from making decisions that miss the mark (the definition of sin).

You must Be the Christ, not merely worship the Christ to escape the consciousness of sin, mortality and the human ego.

Believing in Christ will not make you stop sinning, a Christian is going to commit some sore of sin every day. It's the part of being able to and meaning to ask forgiveness for that sin and the strength to not do it again, even though you will.

I believe that Jesus (pbuh) was a great prophet. But this does not make me a slave to sin. I am a muslim but broadly a human being just like you are; sometimes I sin, sometimes I feel the urge to commit a sin but I manage to get over it and at other times I do good deeds. I am as struggling as you are. I hold on tight to my faith and pray to Allah to support me to be in control of myself.

Let me ask you, now that you accept Christ in your heart as you say and he sacrificed himself for your salvation and paid for your sins, are you now an angel? Do you not have sexual fantacies? Are you not arrogant sometimes? Do you never lie? Do you never sin?

I am not sure I understand your dare. What does hatred have to do with it? Do you hate me and assume I hate you back? I neither hate you nor love you or else I would be lying. I respect you for what you are and appreciate you as a human being.

Did I pass or fail the test? ;)

Peace

Dear one, I guess I should not respond because I am a Christian, but how can you think that non-Christians can respond to this without hate. They don't know the amazing grace we have. They don't know that Christ died for our sins so we would be saved. They are the ones we need to pray for the most. They are the non-believers. I am writing this because I want to assist you, and we as Christians are supposed to help those who are lost.
God Bless you.

You can never escape the need to sin, it's part of our natures. Our nature has been sinful since Adam and Eve. By God's grace, we have forgiveness from our sin, and strength to resist temptation to sin. A life without sin has only been accomplished by Jesus Christ, which made him a perfect sacrifice for our sins.

That would be okay and all but in nature there is no such thing as a sin. The concept of sin is used to define and suggest a lifestyle that will work on society if we want to establish some sort of order and "truce". Since there is no such thing as sin, you do not need "Christ" to escape it.

Through Christ, all things are possible!! I agree with you completely. The Lord gave us the ability to decide whether or not to follow his teachings, or follow Satan. Temptation is always going to be there, and there will always be people who will chose to sin. However, if you can ADMIT you sins to the Lord, and ask for his forgiveness, he will forgive. But you can't sin, and ask to be forgiven, and then keep sinning and thinking that you can continue to just keep asking for forgiveness, to turn and sin some more. You need to truly be sorry for what you have done, and through prayer everyday, ask for the strength to help you to not sin. Oops.........you said non-Christians. Well, I am Christian, and just spend all this time typing this, so.........I'm submitting it anyways! Peace be with you!!!!

So heres one for you without hate, but that does not mean you will like the answer.
Try this one on We are all sinners according to the bible
and we all slaves to our beliefs. Maybe the true sin is to not be a slave to our beliefs by embracing the beliefs of others.
I wish you well

Without Christ I would still be sticking needles in my arms, and drinking my self into a stupor. Only by the grace of GOD and the forgivness and grace He showed me can I stand today with the testimony I have and know I am eternally cleaned and destined to live with Him forever.
