The bible says not to gossip. Well what about in such situations as you tell your family members that haven't heard that Larry is in the emergency room?
What other ways is gossip ACCEPTABLE?

Gossip is merely relaying information that serves no useful purpose.
Example= Your husband comes home and tells you he just saw Pastors car parked outside the local bar.
Its ok that he told you, because you are one flesh. Now if either of you go around and repeat this information to others it is now gossip.
Gossip biblically anyway is repeating others personal lives to another.
Passing along information such as requested prayers and emergency needs information with the consent of the person is not gossip.
Even if the news is good if the person with the news does not want it repeated, then repeating it after that point would be gossip.

I guess it would depend on what Larry was in the E.R for. Did he have a heart attack or did he fall off the ladder while climbing out his girlfriends window? Was he in a car accident or did he over dose on Viagra? Are they going to go visit and take him some flowers or are they going to call the other ladies in the church group to spread the news? One is gossiping and the other isn't. It depends on the situation ,the reason you are telling them and what they are likely to do with the information.

I dont think either are examples of gossip.
What God condems is gossip that harms others, like, "Did you hear that Jenny and Mike are filing bankruptcy and losing their home?" and saying it in a mocking laughing way NOT "Did you hear that Jenny and MIke are filing bankruptcy and losing their home? We need to pray for them and offer them our support and comfort." OR "Did you hear what Jessica said about you? She said she thinks you have gained alot of weight and let yourself go and that she wont be suprised if Tom starts cheating on you." We dont, as Christians, repeat this information NOR do we listen to it without condemning the person revealing this foul statement to us. We PRAY For the one gossiping.
We are all guilty of sin. Gossip just one of them. I gossip too, though I know I shouldnt.

There is a difference between gossip and talking.
If you are talking about someone and that someone isn't around, and it can hurt that person and the person you are talking to is not the others covering (ex. teacher, pastor, parent, etc.) then it is gossip.
the other stuff you mentioned is cool though, so go and have fun young one.

I think you need to figure out what gossip actually is because what you're talking about is not gossip.
