Dude! I don't want to see you with a gun! Plain and simple!

Military isn't just about going overseas and kicking butt! There's this thing about honour and integrity - its a job and if you can't show a little responsibility in your personal life, why would you be a good candidate to represent Canada in uniform?

What's the weapons ban and the criminal record about? You don't seem to have any respect for authority as it is. I doubt you'd do so good in the army, my friend.

Comrades in arms count on you to be there for them. I wouldn't want to work with you, and as a taxpayer and business manager, I wouldn't want you to work for me.

Quit looking for someone else to straighten out your life, and do it yourself.

Bad credit, so long as it is under control, will not disqualify you from serving in the Canadian Forces. Unless it has the potential of making you an adminstrative burden, in which case, we don't want to deal with you in the first place.

As for your criminal record, if you can get a full pardon for your offenses, it will be completely wiped off and then, it will be fixed.

However, as for the weapons ban, I don't know if a pardon will fix that. Obviously, if you can't even buy a plinker to take out pop cans, we won't issue you a fully automatic assault rifle. That's just the way it is. We can't risk having someone with a potential tendency to use weapons in unlawful manners have access to that kind of firepower.

As for sending goody-two-shoes, not every soldier in the Forces is an angel. I've done a few things in my time that don't quite qualify as perfect, and a lot of my friends and comrades in arms have done much, much worse. Trust me, some of them have seen a lot more than you can imagine before they joined.

However, being in the military, even in the combat arms trades, you need to have very good communiation skills, and this includes written communications. Judging by the way you have written this question, no offense but I seriously doubt you would be able to pass the aptitude test in the very first place. As for being a hard worker, your concept of soldiers just going out to kick butt overseas is enough to tell me that you are not military material.

Military life is about discipline, honour, integrity and loyalty. Even the most junior infanteer or cook is a highly trained professional, a man or woman who has spent months learning and perfecting a wide range of skills. Make no mistake, it is hard work just to become a soldier of your chosen profession. I am deploying to Afganistan soon, and may (insert deity) help any who levels a weapon against me because I shoot fast and straight. But when I head over, it will be after seven months of extra training in all aspects of soldiering, in my own particular specialty, and enough of a process that if I was not 150% ready to go, I would not be heading over.

It might sound unfair to you, but hey, life's a female dog. Get used to it. But the military does not need cowboys. The Canadian Forces need professionals. You might have a good head on your shoulders, but if the recruiters won't trust you, odds are neither will your fellow soldiers in the end.

You can't carry a weapon. In Canada criminals convicted of a violent act are unable to obtain weapons permits period. There is no waiver for military service, this is the law.

The Canadian military have fairly high standards as to who they accept into service. You need to have a track record of being an good citizen after all you are representing the nation. The military is about integrity and honour. The Canadian military rarely ever goes in and "kicks ***". Having this notion is a good enough reason to keep you out.

Not to mention you cannot have a fire arm period. What are we going to to, send you over with a ruck sack full of shoes to throw?

I cant speak for Canada only the US...

This is why you cant join.

The military is not all about just grabbing a gun and shooting at people. A lot of the military jobs require you to be responsible and dedicated. You have not shown this in regards to your credit score. There are also a lot of jobs that require you to deal with classified information. Do you really think the goverment is going to let someone with a criminal record have access to classified information.

It may suck in your opinion that they wont let you join but when it comes down to it we need hard working dedicated people in the military. Ones that the military knows they can put into a situation and they dont have to worry about criminal acts happening.

Instead of joining the Canadian Army, why don't you take a few classes in remedial English. Your grammar is atrocious.

Yeah, great idea, give weapons to criminals! Did you know that most of the terrorists we fight are criminals that joined their countries army and then deserted?

They won't let you join because of bad credit - or the criminal background? Or both?

I know - my brother wished he could join- but he can't now either because of stupid decisions when he was younger.
