No, I don't think women belong in the infantry. I am not offended by the fact that we are not allowed either. My husband is in the infantry. I know what his training and his job are like. I don't think most women would be capable of keeping up. It is just plain fact. We are different. There are things that men excell at, there are things men excell at. This just happens to be one that is better left to men. Hygiene would be a big issue. When my husband goes out on training exercises, he can go as long as a month without a shower. In the military women are required to have access to a shower every 3 days. That would definitely change training dynamics. However, I do believe that women are very valuable in the military. They serve just as proudly as the men do.

I think women should be on the front lines if they want to be. I know many women in the military and they are able to kick a** and take names. I think if they are in the mind to do it then they should be allowed to. But once and if they are ever allowed I would not take any crying that it is too hard, or I don't get a shower often, because that is part of the job of being in the infantry. I think most women who think they can make it in the infantry will make it in the infantry, and I sure would be proud of them for what they do, and I would give them more respect then I would any member in Congress
But with that there should be no difference in standards for anything they do, for example PT they have to meet the standards of a male soldier.

I know studies have been done, proving that a woman is less hesitant to kill than a man, especially if it be another woman or even a child. To a woman that is not her offspring. I after working in combat arms for 9 years, only seeing a female for either a pay problem up at Division HQ, or to go to the clinic for some kind of medical ordeal. I now have a support job and work more frequently with the other gender. All I can say is, that it brings drama to the work enviroment. My work enviroment should not be a soap opera. Im not sure about the issue of physical fitness standards. It is true that they are graded differently because they are built differently. But if a female could perform to the same standards as her male counterparts, so be it. That is one heck of a woman. but what will happen in the field may be the the difference between life and death.

Neither a bullet or trigger check for gender and in the present altercation (war,) the base of the infantry--usually called the "front lines or MLR," does not exist.
Of course I'd rather be in a fighting hole than in a moving target like a Humvee. A lot of women drive Humvees and trucks in Iraq. I'd say they are going into danger as much or more than an infantry mud shoe sitting in his hole or busted down house. To quote a WWII cartoon infantry character, "Them moving targets attract the eye."

Women are not held to the same standard of strength and endurance as men. They have different standards because of the differences in our bodies. For example, for an 18-year-old woman to max out the run on her PT test, she must run 10 seconds faster than a 61 year-old man maxing his test. If women in their physical prime have only the capabilities of senior citizen men, they cannot be reasonably expected to succeed given the physical rigors of the battlefield. I know people will say that they are doing fine on the battlefield, now. However, there is a big difference between driving a truck while occasionally defending yourself from attack and actively closing with the enemy to destroy him.

I think cause they believe we're too emotional? I don't know.
To be honest, I"m not sure I'd want to do that. Could I kill if someone threatened my children? In a heartbeat.
I think women aren't given enough credit in that regard. I knew several women in the army very suitable for combat.
In a way it offends me, but unless we knew the "real" reason - it's hard to say.
Maybe cause of the monthlies? you can't take 10 to change "things" during a battle? Hmmm something to think about.

I think eventually humankind will mature enough to accept that women are as capable of fighting as they are of dying. The reasons women are not allowed into infantry has a lot more to do with men's hangups than it does with women's abilities.
I guess I'm offended that the ignorance of people who can't rise above their own predjudices and animal instincts gets shoved off onto an entire other group of people, whenever it happens. The excuses given by men for not wanting women in combat, the wimpiness of women who won't support those who wish to serve because they are afraid of higher expectations of themselves, the backwards, arrogant attitudes of those who believe they have the right to dictate what women are or are not capable of doing--yes, I'm offended. But, more resigned than anything else. If we're going survive our own stupidity, no doubt we'll have to evolve beyond most of the issues threatening our species, war included.

I think that ot's right for certain reasons because alot of messed up stuff happens to infentry and they don't want that happen to women.
I think women can be infentry but, i don't think it's agood idea for the above reason.
