Fine, but why do they leave out things like the polygamy ? I'm sure they could convert more people if they mentioned that.

Tell me if we aren't telling the world about our past in polygamy how did you come to this knowledge?

not to put you on the spot or anything but, I'm open about it, One of my ancestors had somewhere between 6-7 wives, What do I care? it was their decision, no one forced them to take another wife, they did it willingly like we don't have the Mormon police going around and making sure no one drinks an ounce of coke, that's their decision. that's what our faith is based on, decisions, good bad whatever! tell you the truth I could care less what my Mormon friend do and don't do, I focus on myself. look at me rambling.
I just know that I' open about it
HEY WORLD!!! MORMONS USED TO PRACTICE POLYGAMY!!!
I think that's open enough.

hummm, how do I answer this. It's like this, the setting of what happened in the Book of Mormon occured in what is now Central, South, and parts of North America. And so, I would imagine, for many Central and South Americans it's like hearing about family. And I know, at least in the Mexican culture (and I would assume in other Latin American cultures) family is very important.
Also, let's not forget that when an area is ready to hear the full Gospel of Jesus Christ, it is a very exciting time. People are so joyous that they quickly share what they learn with those they care about - typically their families.

You might want to look into it yourself. It (The Book of Mormon) is a life changing book. It has changed my life for the better. The teachings in it are true. If you want to read it, but are afraid that you'll be "sucked in", try reading it online, then ask questions to either your family, the missionaries, or you can ask me.

UPDATE: What specifically about poligamy are you wondering about? (add @yahoo.com to my username)

There are many prophecies in the Bible that could answer this question. But I'll give you the short answer: The true church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth. It is being spread to every nation in preparation to the second coming of Christ. It's an exciting time to be alive. You should check it out. If half of your family has joined, it can't be all bad, right?

There isn't any polygamy in the church, that was a thing that happened in the 1800's it dosn't happen now so why think that! LDS is the right religion so that is why people are switching to it.

When God gives authority to men to do things it is not a sin, it is counted for righteousness. When Abraham was to kill his son, he was willing because God asked this of him, it was counted to him as righteousness. Everything can be counted for good or evil depending on whether or not we are obedient to God. It is not about our will, it is about aligning our will with God and trusting him. It is also about having the authority to do things. Like sex outside of marriage is not allowed, but within it is and it is considered good. Why is it good for one and not the other? One has been given the authority to do so and has entered into a covenant with God, the other who is unmarried is actually still a brother or sister, it is not right for them to do this because they are not fully committed and approved by God. If you could understand that you are looking at things in a pessimistic way and not through the eyes of God nor his servants who serve him you might change your mind.
