Roses, daffodils and daisies are flowers - a symbol to some as love. It has been a way to get to a woman's heart for years now. Valentine's Day a man is to show the one he loves how much he appreciates her with flowers, chocolate, or jewelry.
I believe the idea of flowers being romantic came from william shakespeare and his poetry.

I am not a romantic so I'll give it to you straight. Roses mean money. Daffodils and daisies means you have less money but you still care.

Girls love flowers. Red roses are for love,yellow for friendship, and white is smpathy. I think the rest are given for their beauty alone.
