Is there a more profound Christian statement outside of the Bible ?

Hi there. Just to clear up any misunderstandings...
The quote does not originate with me. I heard some Christian guy say it some time back. Also, I believe that it is meant to be figurative and not literal.
What does it mean ? I believe it means that it was our sin that put Christ on the cross. The same sin that came into the world via Adam when he disobediently partook of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

WellTraveledProg - Thanks for your reply. Politeness costs nothing but can mean a lot.

Hmm, let's see:
The Romans made the cross jesus was supposedly crucified on. Since the Romans had a completely different mythology of creation (that didn't include the garden of eden, the tree, the snake, adam and eve, etc.), somehow I doubt they would have tried to find wood that came from a particular tree...one that by the christians' own mythology had been gone for thousands of years.
How about this: is there a more profound christian statement of igorance and stretching the facts than that one? No, I think there isn't.

The wood of the cross is no more than a gruesome instrument of torture. It was used to kill thousands, not just that Jesus bloke. If he ever existed.

I believe that the cross USED to be a tree, now it's just dust.

sure. why not. mix up the genesis myth and the new testament, man/god myth.
...............and, while you're making up stuff, how about creating a new religion....it's very profitable, just check out Joseph Smith Jnr and L Ron Hubbard

You christions are besoted with the cross, do you really think that if Jesus came back he is really going to want to see one of those things???? like hell!!

Its like if JFK came back, is he going to want to see a fooking rifle, I don't think so!!

yes "god is dead and no one cares, if there is a hell, I'll see you there"--it's profound because if god really is dead, his followers are still pretending he's not, and therefore, even the most devout christian does not care
