I have 3 kids, 12, 10 and 6 yrs. old. so our family consists of total 5 persons including my wife. I am thinking of buying some used 1996 to 2002 honda civic. which model shoud I buy.

you're not going to get your entire family in that car comfortably! but if you insist on getting it go with the LX or EX both have power options for a little more comfort

It depends on the condition not all used cars are the same even if they're the same model. 4 door sedan, Get an accord it has a bit more space than a civic. Other options are a Subaru Legacy wagon.

honda civic 2002, sedan ex. but really.. try to go for a honda accord sedan.
