Wow. That is insane. Do they seriously believe they are going to gain converts by going to those extremes?

What exactly would be considered a house built by the devil? I haven't heard of anything like that before.

A hell house, also commonly known as a judgment house, is a haunted house-style attraction typically run by evangelical Christian churches or parachurch groups. These attractions are meant to depict the divine judgments that await unrepentant sinners and the torments of the damned in Hell. They are typically operated in the days preceding Halloween.

Hell House is a novel by American novelist Richard Matheson. The novel was later turned into a film The Legend of Hell House starring Pamela Franklin and Roddy McDowall.

A hell house is a haunted house, but instead of ghosts and spooks it uses real life scenerios to scare young "christians" into a specific way of thinking. Some are good life lessons (like a scene from a hospital where two teenagers are bloody from drinking and driving) and some are a little bit close minded and tell you what to believe (such as an abortion scene and a pot smoking scene) Although I dont personally believe in Abortion, and dont smoke pot. I think its wrong for them to brainwash you into one particular way of thinking without including all those lovely little decision making details you need for later in life.

Oh, and Halloween is not just a Pagan holiday, all ethnicities and all religions have a version and reason to celebrate it. As a matter of fact it, the type of halloween that America celebrates today is more Christian than any other "religion" because the masks and costumes were once worn by the church and that is where we adopted the tradition......c'mon people. lets not look at everything so negatively.

Some Christian's feel that it is wrong to celebrate Halloween. They feel it is celebrating Satan or something like that. Instead of taking their kids trick or treating and letting them dress up as "demons" or other unapproved things they have what they call hell houses. They are similar to the idea of a haunted house but the theme is showing kids the consequences of sinful behavior and what happens to people who sin.

The Christian spoof definition is correct, though there are stories of houses built by the
Devil. You could call such a house a "Hell house" if you so want.

It's a Christian spoof on a Haunted House, since they don't want to openly celebrate a Pagan holiday.
