So I am angry and disgusted. Yuck it stinks and all that crap. Is it cuz he is not neutered, or what. He always has access to the kitty box. I threw him outside now. That may seem mean but he likes it out there and goes out all the time anyhow. Any help would rock!!!

We were planning on getting him neutered soon. Just a matter of a few weeks. He was an outdoor cat when he followed us home. See my son and I went for a walk and he followed us home. So we gave him some water and food. Then he just kept coming back and wouldnt leave, so we bought all the neccesary things and brought him in. Mainly because we live in Ohio and it has been gettin really cold at night. We cannot stop him from goin outside, he runs out when we open the door. But he always comes back. I dont know if I can deal with pee and poo all over my house. It stinks and then I have to clean more than I should have too. Also his ltter box is cleaned once to twice a day. So it cannot be a dirty litter box. I feel bad taking him to a shelter, and I would think that if he is someones pet he would go home and not keep coming back here. He just lays on our deck and waits to come in. All I can say is YUCK YUCK YUCK!!!!! I love animals but sometimes they can be gross. Thanks again ya'll!!!

What is more disturbing is the fact that the kitty box is clean. No pee or poo in the dumb thing. Ahhhh. I guess we will have to see whats up after we get him fixed.

Rural Dive- You have no right judging me. I did what was right I brought him in when no one else did. I never said someone else would take him in, obviously they didnt. He was running around the neighborhood for quite some time. I am gettin him fixed. Sorry we dont have tons of money to do it right now. I just lost a baby and was more concerned with consoling my 4 year old son than taking the cat to the vet. While I was having contractions and giving birth to my child that was not even alive. Do you want the cat? didnt think so. I threw him out when I found the feces. Sorry, I cant have my house stinking. He was an outdoor cat before, and I think he will survive until I get rid of the stink. I asked for help not judement lil miss thang. No one has the right to judge but Allah (God). So until I figure out what to do, he will be outside. There is no reason that he would suddenly use my sons bed and not the litter box, he has been in here for over a week, and it is the first time.

I think most answers here can be considered. maybe first take him to the vet, tell them everything. if the vet doesnt find anything wrong then you know the cat is just upset. I heard a friend had this problem with a new cat that she adopted years ago. she had a dog and the dog never bothered the cat but it seems the cat had a problem with another pet in the house. so it kept spraying everywhere although litter box was cleaned regularly and she was healthy. punishment didn't work with cats, if you really love them and want them to change, punishment will not get you anywhere. what my friend did was get humane society picked the cat up and when the cat found another home with no other cat, it settled down OK with the new family. You may try this option too, humane society will be the best place to go for animal shelter.

You must become the solution..not the problem..Neuter him. Confine him to bathroom or laundry room when he returns from the hospital. Put his food water and litterpan in the room. Close your sons door for the time being. You now have an investment in this animal.....do you want him running lose then? You and millions of others are so easily frustrated by animal behavior it seems the only thing to do is toss them out. How cruel is that? You assume that he will be taken in by yet another kind soul how wrong you are. Stick with what is right.....for you and the cat. Eventually he will change with proper supervision...avail yourself of all the many websites covering feline behavior. Good luck

Sister, it sounds like the kitty is an outside cat and will only come in when he wants to. Typical independant cat behavior. My male cat used to get upset and would pee wherever he wanted to show it. Everytime we moved to a different house or something upsets his routine he would do that. I understand how bad all that mess can be and smell. Neutering does help, and it really does not cost that much. In fact, I think in some states the ASPCA will do it for free especially if it's a stray that you are taking in.

My cat was a feral farm kitten when we took her in. She is impossible to keep in the house, she is the Houdini of cats. That being said, I have always had the opposite problem, she will not use the litter box, and in fact will not go to the bathroom in the house at all. My vet said it has to do with they will instinctively seek out a place where they can go unobserved and/or where they feel safe. My cat will only go inside in the most dire of circumstances. Your cat may have just lived on his own so long that he doesn't have the "manners" of a civilised cat. You might have to resign yourself to the fact he will never be a house cat.I would definately get him neutered though to prevent any future rude kitties.

have you put out a found poster so the owner can take their baby back or have you called a radio station that does lost pets or the humane society to see if anyone has turned in a lost cat report on the cat you found. I would go to a non killing shelter and turn him in and they could neuter him and he wouldn't do all that stuff and they would find a owner that is suitable for this male cat. If you wanna keep him I would get him neutered a.s.a.p and soon before it happens again.

I had a male cat and he did the same thing, neutered! They want to mark their territory. Unfortunately, we spent lots of money trying to correct the problem. We tried Feliway........very expensive, and the doc even put him on what I called Kitty Prozak, some sort of antidepressent. They never stop once they've started. We had to throw my son's bed away. I will never have another cat.
Also, was there a cat in the house before? I don't know, but I believe that they can smell other previous animals and that may provoke them to spray. Good luck.

There are many reasons the cat could be doing this; the first thing to do is rule out medical problems. Cats often stop using their boxes if they feel sick, and unneutered males are prone to problems with their prostates.
If the behaviour is psychological, neutering often helps significantly.
As an aside, I used to work at an animal shelter. Part of my job was I.Ding the dead animals brought in by city workers and calling their owners to tell them their pet was dead. There are so many horrible things that can happen to an outdoor cat it is unbelievable. If you can't keep him inside, it might be kinder to bring him to the animal shelter. The shelter I worked at matched cats who wouldn't stay inside with farmers who needed mousers in their barns. Worked great for cat, farmer and shelter.

my male cat used the litter box for along time and then he just started to pee and sometimes poop all over the house. We got him fixed ( it's not as expensive as i thought for a male, like $43 total if even that) and it stopped the bad bathroom behavior at once. If you can keep him outside and he wont run away or get into fights then leave him, but it's not fair to leave him outside if he's not used to it.

If you get him neutered it will likely stop the behavior. Plus he will have lower risk of some types of cancer when he gets older and will be less likely to get in fights over territory, so you will save a ton in vet bills for abscesses over the next few year. The cost of neutering is very low for a male cat.
