I am a RN of 30 yrs and the best way known to treat a cold is symptomatic. For fever higher than 101 use Tylenol as directed for adults only. Also, drink lots of fluids including water and juices, orange is the best. Most of all rest your body, take naps and slow your pace until you start feeling better.Always take a flu shot only if you are not allergic to eggs.
Preventing the cold WASH YOUR HANDS FREQUENTLY .

Get plenty of rest. Drink lots of water. I use zicam swabs as well. NyQuil as well if it is severe cold. Since I started using zicam I haven't gotten a full blown cold. It really seems to help a lot.
